Ch. 8
The Not so Blank Pictures
Susan walked up to Hilary’s room and knocked
“Come in…” Hilary’s voice yelled
Susan took a deep breath disappointed that Billy wasn’t in the Baltimore hospital, Hilary was the best thing. Susan pushed the door open and walked in holding the pictures tight, “Hello?” She said walking up to Hilary, “My name is Susan…” She stopped before giving her last name
Hilary smiled and nodded welcoming her
Susan sat in a chair placing the pictures on her lap looking down, “I was at Billy’s concert one day…” She really didn’t know any other way to start
Hilary tilted her head, “Ok… I won’t let you just meet Billy if you are fan sorry Susan…”She said
“No! It’s not that! It’s what we saw… at his concert, we saw… well…” Susan looked down and looked at the pictures
Hilary blinked, “What are you talking about?” She asked, “What did you see?”
Susan looked up at her, “Benjamin Madden? You know him? We saw him, Billy and I…” She said and looked down again
Hilary’s eyes went wide, “Benji? You saw Benji at the concert… he’s dead…” She said in a daze
Susan nodded, “I know… that is why I was coming to you. Cause he was there and Billy freaked out and started to chase him. Then he fell unconscious. It was weird, I took pictures but…” She held them up and walked over, “As you will see…” She showed her the pictures, “He is not there…”
Hilary blinked and glared at her, “Is this some kind of joke!” She said getting very mad
Susan shook her head, “No!” Susan yelled tears going to her eyes, “I saw him! Billy saw him! You can ask him! He will tell you!” She looked away and held the pictures
Hilary watched her, “You’re not lying…” She mumbled
Susan took a deep breath, “Also, I saw Joel. He gave me your address…” She started to flip through the pictures and showed her the one with her address on it, “See…”
Hilary blinked, “Why would he have come to you?” She asked
Susan looked at her getting fairly mad herself, “I don’t know! Ok? Probably cause you and Billy are both in the stupid hospital!” She screamed
Hilary blinked, “Shhh!” She grabbed the pictures, “Be quiet Susan…” She started to look through them, she blinked and held them up close
There was a white blur in the crowd of people, a ghost like blur
Hilary blinked, “Is that?” She pointed at it and showed Susan
Susan leaned in, “That! That is where Benji was standing!” She said
Hilary looked at the pictures, all of them the white blur was in the same spot. Hilary pushed the nurse button and waited
A nurse walked in, “Yes?” She asked watching Hilary
“Can you bring Mandy in here please?”
The nurse nodded slowly and walked out
Hilary looked at Susan, “My daughter will tell us if that is Benji…”
“How do you know?”
“Because Mandy can… I know she can…”
Mandy came in with the nurse, she looked at Hilary and walked up and sat down on the bed cross-legged, Indian style, “What?” She asked
Hilary held out the pictures not saying a word
Mandy grabbed them and looked at the pictures. She studied them for a long time and blinked, “Benji?” She asked and looked at Hilary
Hilary nodded, “The white blur… that’s Benji right?” She asked
Mandy blinked and looked down at the picture nodding, “Where was this taken?” She asked searching the other pictures
“Your fathers concert.” Hilary said watching her
Mandy looked at her, “Thought so…” She looked down at the pictures, “We need to get back with dad…” She said and looked at Hilary putting the pictures down, “This is getting serious…”
Hilary nodded and grabbed her phone, “I’ll call your father…” She said dialing his hospital number
Billy sat there still crying from the vision, he was so scared
The phone started ringing
He looked at the phone whipping the tears away, he grabbed the phone, “Hello?” He started rubbing his temples with his finger
“Billy it’s Hilary… we got a problem…” She said
Billy blinked and smiled then sighed, “I know we do… Joel visited me not to long ago…” He looked at the wall
Hilary blinked and looked at Susan then closed her eyes, “He visited you to?” She looked up, “This little girl came to me… saying she went to your concert and you guys saw… Benji? Her names Susan… but she brought the pictures she took of Benji and where Benji was standing in the pictures there’s a white blur.. He was there Billy…” She closed her eyes again
Billy looked at the window, “I know he was. Before I could reach him my head started hurting badly.” He looked at his hands, “I don’t know what’s going on… But I know who’s behind it… Joel told me.” He closed his eyes tightly, “I also saw who is doing this…” he mumbled
Hilary blinked and looked at Mandy, “Who is it…?” She asked hesitantly
Quietly like a whisper and like he didn’t want to say it he said, “Rick… Martin…”
Hilary gasped and looked down tears going to her eyes, “Billy…” She opened her eyes gasping for air from the tears, “I’m so sorry… Why would he?”
Billy shook his head, “Dunno… but you and Mandy and even Susan stay together.” He opened his eyes glaring at the wall, “We don’t need anyone dying! Keep Susan there as long as possible!” He looked out the window, “Ok?”
Hilary nodded and said, “Yeah I can try. What are you going to do?”
Billy shook his head still gazing out the window, “I have no clue… but I will figure out something…” He hung up
“Billy!” She turned off the phone sighing, “Great… ok… Susan you have to find a way to stay here…”
Susan blinked and nodded, “I just tell mom I’m gonna stay here for the night… maybe longer and my friend’s parents are going to bring me home.” She said and took off running
“Mandy…”
Mandy looked at Hilary
“You have to stay here to…”
Mandy nodded
“Alright… we’re good…” Hilary sighed and laid down, “They can’t take my daughter away from me so they will have to put up with it…”
Mandy crawled up to Hilary on the bed and laid by her, “I love you mom…” She mumbled
Hilary blinked, smiling she hugged her saying, “I love you to… And so does your father… he wont let anything get us…”
