“You all look like you’ve seen a ghost.” I said nonchalantly as I reached for the dagger only to be dog piled by everyone. They were all talking at once, telling me how worried they had been, how they all thought I had died, and I just laid there smiling. I hadn’t the heart to tell them I had died, that I wasn’t really me anymore. I felt different and new, like I was someone else. “I’d love to stay here all day but there is a killer on the loose and a monster in my sister’s bed room that I need to kill.” There are no words for how quick they all moved away from me. Grabbing the dagger I stood up on unsteady legs and wobbled over to the stairs. But after tripping a few times I fell down and almost started to cry until Ray helped me up. “Do you know,” she started as he got me to the top of the staircase. “That you look different?”
“Do you know,” I pulled myself away from him and stood up straight, feeling my strength come back to me. “That my sister has a crush on you?” Smiling at him I turned and walked toward Bobbi’s room. Crouching down I knelt on the floor, dagger at the ready as I began to swing the door in. It didn’t make it half way before a clawed had came out and crashed into the wood, shattering it like it was made of glass.
Swinging the Athame I cut across a scaled leg that I saw move. The thing screams out in pain and rage as I crawled into the darkened room, keeping myself against the wall as I let my night vision kick in as what was left of the door swing clothed. I was wishing Bobbi didn’t have her blackout curtains closed when I was grabbed and lifted off the floor. “Put me down you son of a bitch!” I screamed as I stuck the blade into the abominations chest, turning it and try ingot shove the black all the way in.
I fell to the floor as the thing slowly dissolved; trying to catch my breath when there was a scream from downstairs. Laying on the floor I rolled my eyes I grabbed the dagger that had not vanished with the creature and stood back up running for the staircase yet again but before I could descend I saw Bob walking up it toward me, and Mikey and Gerard laying to the floor behind him. My attention was brought back to Bob as he I backed up. “You’re far more trouble then I thought you would be. Shouldn’t you be dead by now?”
“Yes.” My answer stopped him in his tracks. Lifting my shirt I showed him the healed scars of the wounds he had given me. I was putting my shirt back down when he rushed me. Lading on the floor there was a struggle for the dagger I still held, that was, before he made a sharp movement and I felt the warm rush of blood hit my hands again. Looking into his eyes as they turned black, I knew he was dieing. When they slowly bled back to bright blue I knew it was the real Bob and I had been wrong. He was still inside his body. I started crying as he smiled and whispered “thank you” before passing away and his full weight fell on me.
Still crying I pushed his body off mine and pulled the dagger out. I took it with me as I descended the staircase to check on Mikey and Gerard. Both were still alive just knocked out. Looking at the knife in my hands I sighed and used the hem of my shirt to clean my finger prints off it and threw it into a corner. “Bobbi!” I screamed as I stood up, wobbling as I went in search of her.
I was walking down the hallway when I blinked and caught sight of Kane leaning against a wall. “You did well.” he said as he pushed himself away from the wall and came toward me. But as he stepped into the light streaming through one of the windows I almost passed out when I saw him go fuzzy and then turn into Frank.
I don’t know if it was my imagination, or if Frank was Kane, but before I got to say anything Bobbi and Ray walked into the hallway. “Did you get the demon?”
I felt like I was going to start crying again, I‘ve killed demons before, but never someone possessed. “I got both of them.” There were cheers from the two as Frank moved past me. “We should go get Mikey and Gerard out of here.” I said as I started to walk away. “What do you mean? Why?” They followed me as we walked into the foyer. “I’m going to set the house of fire.” I said with brutal detachment.
“What the fuck are you talking about?” yelled Bobbi as she grabbed me by the arm.
“Well let’s see, there are three dead bodies in the house and I don’t have the overwhelming urge for any of us to go to jail.” I said more then a little hysterically.
But Bobbi explained to me that that had been taken care of. It looked like some psycho had come in and killed the four of them, so that’s what she was going to tell everyone. I was nodding my head when I realized she said four. It was them that I noticed my body, still leaning against the wall where I had been earlier. When I was upstairs my body, my old body, had appeared where I had been. If my body was there who was I now? I’ve asked myself that question a lot since that day. I was looking at my old body when Bobbi spoke from behind me. “It would be best if you left. I’m going to call the cops.” I could hear the sadness in her voice.
Sweeping past her I moved though the kitchen to the staircase to my room.
I took only what I could fit in a duffle bag, clothes, a laptop a few things I could sell and all the money I had hid around my room. As I turned I saw Frank in my door way. “It got out.” He referred to the entity that had been in the basement.
“I know.”
“It wants you. It will find you.” I looked into his eyes as the black that had over taken them slowly bled away.
I brushed past him the way he had in the hall, only to have him grab my wrist and stop me. “We will see each other again.” he whispered to me as I wrenched my arm away from him. “In your nightmares.” I spat back before I descended the staircase and I took my car and sold it as soon as I was far enough away, so no trace of the old Myk.
This is not the end of my story, but it is the end of how I met the two men who lay asleep in this room. Sliding off the windowsill I went to lay with them. I still had some time and remembering what came next in the stories of my life was far batter then just laying here and wondering what was to become of me.
