Whilst the storm dances past
I spin in circles spinning fast
Faster and faster, I spin and spin
Until Laughter hath taken o’er my tears
I wished for the stains to wash away
Away! Away! Away, I say
Banish the thoughts and memories
Cast out my inner fiends
Rain, pour down and cleanse me
So my happiness is saved
Let the pain flow from my throbbing veins
I long to bask in thy melody’s smile
I yearn to touch the reward of my suffering
And I ache for thy comforting arms
The hurt and anguish of Betrayal
Haunt me to my deadened slumber
Mine eyes are filled with shadows of past
That mingle and tingle with rivers of stars
Leave me be, Melancholy!

Again, the stormy clouds thus swirl
Above my hair that twirl and twirl
But fiery embers leave my sight
And I trust once more in thy fair glow
I love my fellows more and more
Each day I spend under thy tears
That pelt my back and hurt my smile
But make me stronger by the while
My heart lifts up to the clouds
That used to swirl and swirl and swirl
Now I see the sunny beams
Arising o’er the bleak, dark clouds
Because of the fog that chased my feet
And the angry rain that veiled my vision
Mine senses are more aware
Of the hurts and pains of the morrow
And my heart and head are more prepared
For the inevitable sorrows that await
I thank thee, Melancholy!
