She gave herself to him that night
(The blood was a minor thing)
Days and weeks go by, she said “I love you” and he said it too
(Secrets of the past didn’t matter, not yet anyway)
Three hours and two minutes in denial, in the bathroom
Doctors in the form of sticks with two red lines
Said, “You’re pregnant, my dear.”
Then a white coat said, “I’m sorry, but he loved a lot before he loved you.”
(Damn.)
