Melkor could perfectly disguise his physical form, but he could not disguise his heart so well. His sly and cunning words had nearly penetrated Feanáro's defenses. The dark Vala had played on the elf's weakness, the jealousy he held toward his half kin. But one slip, one mention of the silmarils and Feanáro's guard was instantly redoubled. His eyes flashed, and he knew that it was Melkor who desired his precious gems. He forgot his presumptuous half brother, seeing only Melkor, the silmarils in hand. His eyes narrowed, glinting dangerously.
