Ch. 8
What’s Wrong With Billy?
Hilary stood in the kitchen rubbing her eyes
Billy walked in and kissed her cheek, “Good morning!” He walked up to the fridge and opened it
Hilary smiled watching him, “Good afternoon, it is 5:40 in the afternoon.”
Billy looked at her, “5:40?” He glanced down then back at her again, “Why did I sleep so late?”
Hilary looked at him, “You refused to get up.”
Billy nodded, “I don’t know why but I feel so weird.”
Hilary nodded, “It’s ok… you went to that stupid house and got scared.”
Billy sighed, “It’s just so weird.”
Hilary looked at him then down at her hands, “What?”
Billy looked at her, “I feel like I love you ten times more than normal.”
Hilary looked at him, “Really?”
He nodded
She smiled, “Aww, baby!” she hugged and kissed him. She sighed, “I have to leave. I need to go to work.” She grabbed her purse and kissed him again, she started for the door
Billy blinked, “I thought you didn’t have to work today?” He followed her out of the kitchen
She looked at him, “They called while you were sleeping.” She smiled and blew a kiss, “See you tonight baby.” She walked out
Billy blinked, “Odd.” He sat on the couch and grabbed the remote. He turned on the TV
Joel sat up gasping for air and looked around the room, “Billy?” He grabbed his head, “It was a stupid dream.” He sighed and looked down, “Why do I feel so weird?” He rubbed his head and shook it, “God, that damn house!”
Benji walked in the room on his crutches, “You ok?”
Joel nodded, “Yes.” He closed his eyes, “I don’t know.”
Benji walked up and sat down by him, “Joel. What’s on your mind?”
Joel sighed, “I had a nightmare.” He glanced down
Benji watched him, “Of?”
Joel looked at him, “The house.”
Benji closed his eyes, “Why do you continue to go in the house?” He looked at his ankle
Joel looked at him, “What? Oh… Billy wanted me to fucking go.”
Benji closed his eyes, “Why?”
Joel shrugged, “I don’t remember.” He looked down
Benji nodded, “I understand. “He stood up on his crutches, “Down go back to the house Joel. It’s a hell hole, you will just get sucked in.” He walked out
Joel watched him
The doorbell rang
Joel walked downstairs and opened the door, “Billy?”
Billy smiled, “Hey.” He walked past him, “Stacie went to work.”
Joel blinked, “Stacie?” He turned shutting the door
Billy looked at him, “What? Stacie? Joel, I said Hilary.”
Joel shook his head, “You said Stacie.” He followed him
Billy watched him, “I said Hilary. Now anyways, I’m bored, lets fucking do something.”
Joel sighed, “Games?”
Billy watched him, “Games?”
Joel watched him, “Yeah, video games. Donkey Kong? Something?”
Billy shook his head, “Do you think I'm a little kid? Lets just do something else!”
Joel blinked amazed that Billy actually turned down a game
Billy smiled, “Well sorry. I'm married now. I can’t just go fucking around on games.” He started up the steps
Joel watched him, “What in the hell?” He followed Billy
Billy walked up to Benji’s room, “You, Benji!” he smiled
Benji looked over while he laid on his bed, he waved
Billy sat down by him
Joel looked at Billy, “When does Hil get off work?”
Billy looked at him, “At 10:00 or so.” He looked at Benji
Joel nodded, “Benji, I’m gonna go talk to mom. She left a message on my machine so I will talk to you later?” He walked off
Billy watched him, “Oh? Weird.”
Benji shrugged, “Mama’s boy.” He smiled, “Wanna play a game?”
Billy shook his head, “Naw…” He smiled, “Let’s just talk.”
Benji blinked, “Alright” He smiled then looked down thinking, “Maybe it’s not a phase. I don’t know.” He looked at Billy, “What’s wrong with Billy?”
