I See America Weeping
I See the tears of the children
As their shelters turn into battlefields
I See the tears of the victims
When all they have is ripped away
I See the tears of the people who have harmed another
Even when they cannot see it for themselves
I See the tears of the poor
As the starve a little while longer
I See the tears of the prosperous
When everything is not enough
I See the tears of the nobodies
With no person to share their pain
I See the tears of famous
Who cannot get a moment alone
I See the tears of the broken hearted
Who have had their better half torn away
I See the tears of the lovers
When their other still does not know them enough
I See America Weeping
And I figure it is wet enough.
I See the tears of the children
As their shelters turn into battlefields
I See the tears of the victims
When all they have is ripped away
I See the tears of the people who have harmed another
Even when they cannot see it for themselves
I See the tears of the poor
As the starve a little while longer
I See the tears of the prosperous
When everything is not enough
I See the tears of the nobodies
With no person to share their pain
I See the tears of famous
Who cannot get a moment alone
I See the tears of the broken hearted
Who have had their better half torn away
I See the tears of the lovers
When their other still does not know them enough
I See America Weeping
And I figure it is wet enough.
