A/N: Today's Muse is brought to you from under the cork tree

I placed my bag on a seat next to Ashley. She smiled and waved as I roughly took my own seat. I smiled back and quietly said hello. Ashley leaned into my sighed and brought her lips to my ear.

"Are you gonna do an Austrian accent if you get Rolph?" She pulled back looking for my answer.

"Maybe," I shrugged.

I flipped my papers and skimmed at the Capitan Von trap part. Ashley leaned over watching my eyes skim the page and then reading the part as well. She nudged me for another answer.

"Von Trap?"

"Ha," I mused, "I was looking for something a little more mature as well, there's a lot under tow in the captains part."

Ashley smiled as she tried to understand what I had just said. She glanced at Edelweiss and made a knowing gasp. A sort of 'ahh I see'.

"You may have competition for that," she motioned towards a shady character in the back of the theater.

I stared harder at the character and saw Gerard Way. His long hair slightly draped over his face as peered into his lap, reading a script intently. My lungs collapsed as I exhaled in a nervous gasp.

"Gerard?" my voice was almost too full of surprise and excitement.

Ashley laughed into me like I'd made some brilliant joke.

"No," she covered her mouth giggling, "no, he's here on set duty," she snickered again before gathering her breath, she pointed to a boy a few seats lower.

I vaguely knew him as Spencer March.

"Spencer?"

My tone gave a slightly skeptical gate. Ashley returned to her own script.

"Oh yeah, thats nine years of singing lessons your looking at."

I shrunk lower in my seat, hiding my head in the audition script. My stomach began to churn as I felt uneasy, not only was my crush going to see me, but he'd be working along side us putting up sets as we worked around him. Well, that was if I got any part in this musical. Spencer would probably be double casted to play all the males parts.

"Oh dear," I whispered loudly.

"Devon," Ashley reassured, "You'll definetly get Rolph, you were made for the part."

I gave her my most dunce look.

"How?"

"You just are," Ashley threw her arms slightly, "You have that southern charm that can be used with Rolph, and you can be sinister and people will never accept it."

Again I repeated the look; girls made no sense.

"They won't expect it from you I guess is what I should have said," she bent her script, "I mean you're from Georgia."

"Hartwell," I corrected with my gentleman tone, "Hartwell dear."

"See!" She exclaimed, "Jen, tell me that Devon is just the right fit for Rolph."

Jen's eyes grew wild and quite wide, she slightly jumped up and down before leaping into both Ashley and I's lap. I was alarmed at this but Ashley seemed to be used to it.

"YOU'RE TRYING OUT FOR ROLPH!"

I winced from the shout in my ear, why she thought it necessary to bellow was beyond me now.

"Don't over excite yourself."

The three of turned to the rows above us, Gerard was smirking. I could tell it came from him the moment he opened his mouth. Jen scowled at him and slowly jumped up from our laps, she grabbed her bag and began to head for the exit.

"Wait Jen," I called, I didn't really know what I was doing.

"Dev," Ashley stopped me, "don't."

I pulled from her arm and left my bag at my seats. I lunged a few steps and stared at Gerard as I past him; his eyes kept on me as I left the theater.

Outside I could see the sunlight from the halls windows, amounts the clouded beams I saw Jen walking slowly, her head down and her arms wrapped around her shoulders. I heard whimpers and then quiet sobs as I cantered closer.

"Go away Ger-," she stopped upon seeing me, "Oh,"

"Hi," I said, trying to ease the situation.

"You know," Jen whispered, a tear rolled out of her eye but she ignored it, "you know that's the first time he's talked to me in three years."

"Well," I muttered looking back to the open theater door, "That's not being much of a man," I caught a small smirk from Jen, "I assume you guys broke up three years ago?"

Jen nodded.

"He was so different back then," she spoke quietly, "he told me it was him, something about finding himself again."

I nodded and then pulled an arm around her, I thought maybe I'd attempt to comfort her. She was like a friend I knew once, he was small like her and crazy. I had to take a deep breath to stop the memories of Hartwell to surface. How I missed the town so much more everyday.

"If I'd a known he was going to find that in himself I would have never let him go."

I twinged at her choice of words, as if the fact that he had had him long ago was making me jealous...it was though. This meant he was straight...I couldn't help but feel defeated.

"I think," Jen lowered her voice and motioned me to come to her ear, "I think he might have liked boys more...you know?"

A long and loud alarm started to sound off. We both jumped as people came running from the theater, I turned and saw Gerard staring hard at us. His eyes had mine in a trance and I didn't even flinch when Jen ran to grab our stuff from the seats. Gerard's beautiful eyes still stared at me and as pulled away I saw his hand clawed at the fire alarm; the sprinklers broke out in the hall.

Two seconds beat by and then Gerard was gone. Running across the field.
