Back by popular demand - Gerard's P.O.V!!!
I made the miserable walk to school by myself.
Matt was ‘sick’ and had to stay home. Lucky bitch.
Of course when I try to fake it, it never works. Even though I need a day off more than he does right now.
I walked quickly past Gerard and Mikey’s; knowing around this time is when they would leave the house for their own walk to school.
I had done some serious thinking the night before, that and I stayed up all night watching ‘The Notebook’ with a block of chocolate and a tub of ice cream.
A thought came across my mind last night that sparked my interest.
What does this mean about our friendship? Where does it go from here?
I felt a need for those questions to be answered, but the only way I was to get that was by actually talking to Gerard. I don’t know if I was ready for that yet.
I saw Scarlet at the school gate and sped up a bit.
“What’s up babe? You feeling better?” Scarlet greeted.
“Yeah. I’ll be fine. Life goes on.” I said inconvincibly, turning and walking past a worried Scarlet.
“Just letting you know I see right through you. You can’t lie to me bitch. I know all.” Scarlet said enthusiastically.
I couldn’t help but smile weakly.
“I see you smiling! SMILE!” Scarlet said, pointing and smiling herself.
“You need to smile more often. I hardly ever see you smile anymore, I miss it.” Scarlet said, draping an arm around my shoulder as we walked.
“I’ll try.” I muttered, not really meaning my words.
“Oh. I forgot to tell you yesterday! Actually, I didn’t forget, I just didn’t think it was the right time to tell you. But, my brother and his friend are going camping this weekend about an hour or two from here. Dan said I could bring someone… Well, actually he said I could bring you, cause he knew you’d be the one I choose.” Scarlet offered happily.
“I’ll be there.” I said simply.
“You think you’ll be able to come?” Scarlet asked.
I looked at her seriously.
“Okay, bad question. Course you’ll be able to come.” Scarlet giggled.
“Ah, we’re going to have so much fun!” Scarlet squealed.
“And Dan said he’ll buy us alcohol!” Scarlet said mischievously, nudging my side.
“You remember last time we went camping with your Mum and Dad, and we were running up along the bank and I slipped and fell in.” I smiled at the memory.
“Yeah! And just before you went in, you thought ‘It might be a good idea to take Scarlet with me. Let’s take her down too!” Scarlet mocked, trying to contain her laughter.
“Hey! It was pure reflexes! You were the closest thing to grab onto, so I grabbed onto you.” I defended.
“Yep, but that failed for ya.” Scarlet added.
“Meh. Was funny though when you resurfaced. Your face was priceless.” I shrugged.
“Well good. It’s settled.” Scarlet said.
“Yep. Rachel and Scarlet on another camping adventure.” I smiled.
“Let’s hope the tent doesn’t collapse on us in the middle of the night again.” Scarlet laughed.
This time, I couldn’t help but laugh.
“And now you’re laughing!! HURRAH!!” Scarlet yelled, doing a happy dance.
I laughed and shoved her as I walked past her, my eye catching on Gerard.
Me, Mikey and Ray walked into school together.
I looked around and saw the same boring people I saw everyday.
Then I saw Rachel.
Her and Scarlet were almost half way across the oval, Scarlet’s arm was draped around Rachel’s shoulder, and Scarlet was screaming something.
I noticed Rachel was wearing her skirt today, the one that just rose above her knees and showed off her skinny and ever so slightly tanned legs.
She had her hair up in a ponytail, which was a change, and from here, I could tell she was wearing the bright red bow in her hair that she loved.
Scarlet then said something funny and I saw Rachel laugh. An actual proper laugh.
Scarlet than yelled something I could ever hear, and Rachel smiled again and shoved Scarlet.
Her smile was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen. It made her appear even prettier.
I hadn’t seen her smile in quite a while and I missed that, and by the sounds of it, so did Scarlet.
Rachel turned her head, and across half of the oval, over ten meters away, our eyes locked.
I wanted to look away, but I couldn’t. And I could tell she was going through the same thing.
“Just talk to her man.” Mikey said sadly, placing a strong hand on my shoulder.
This broke our eye contact.
“What the fuck am I meant to talk to her about? Ponies?” I said sarcastically.
“Well, you two are still going to be friends right?” Mikey asked.
“Well, ah. I don’t know.” I stuttered.
“You need to talk to her.” Mikey said simply, taking his hand off my shoulder and walking away.
I know Mikey, I just don’t know how. I thought.
I groaned and walked after Mikey, not really wanting to be late for class and getting another detention.
Normal P.O.V (Rachel’s)
“Don’t worry, he’ll be over it soon enough. He’ll probably be going out with Kara again by tomorrow.” I said with venom as Scarlet and I walked towards Mikey.
“I know you still like him Rachel.” Scarlet said in a bored tone.
“I’m not saying I don’t.” I snapped.
We approached Mikey as he looked like he wanted to say something, and I knew what it was about.
“You say anything, and I will slit your throat.” I warned as Mikey opened his mouth to speak.
Mikey closed his mouth and sighed as I sat down next to him.
“He really didn’t mean it Rachel. I was talking to him last night and he said that he- ” Mikey said quickly.
“Uh-uh. What did I say?” I reminded smartly.
Mikey rolled his eyes and shook his head.
“Where is Kara today? I haven’t seen her since yesterday.” Scarlet wondered out loud.
“Does it really matter? It’s not like we’re going to shrivel away and die cause she’s not here. God forbid Kara not coming to school for one day so she can watch over us.” I said in a bitchy tone.
“That bitch is so dead when I get my hands on her.” I muttered to myself.
“You ever realized every time you two end up fighting, someone always ends up breaking it up?” Mikey said in between chews of his sandwich.
“Yep. That’s why this time I’m going to do it properly, just me and her. See what the bitch is really made of.” I said evilly.
“Don’t do anything stupid Rachel. I don’t want a call from your Mum saying you’ve been arrested for violent abuse.” Scarlet said seriously.
“Eh, whatever.” I shrugged.
We sat in silence, me thinking about what I was going to do to get Kara. God knows the bitch has what she’ll have coming to her. And the best part of it is, no one will be there to save her. Not this time.
I then felt a vibration in my pocket.
I shifted around awkwardly and pulled my phone out of my skirt pocket.
I flipped it open; surprised to see it was a message from Gerard.
I suddenly felt weird and nervous as I opened and read the message.
Meet me at the back trees on the oval in five minutes. I need to talk to you.
