I haven't played Final Fantasy 9. Played 7, , 10 and 12.
It's not so the FF I'm used to though you remind me of a few things. I thought about going to play 9 earlier, perhaps this is another reason. Who knows.

Final Fantasy 9 is definitely enjoyable, it's a quirky little mixture of old and new elements. I recommend it, it's a fun game.
