Yes this is an acknowledgement that Tom Riddle also took the potion although he did it while alone with no witnesses.
This is something that you want written in your story, not buried within your author's notes. Just a word of advice on it. It may be worthy to have a flashback scene to incorporate that into the story.

I hadn't thought so much about what may have been blocked or suppressed in Tom's memories only that there had been some... I will take your advice to heart, it could prove quite interesting.
