Hmm, it seems that Tommy-boy didn't quite understand as much about what was going down as he thought; certainly who - and what - he found there surprised him. That was a right nicely described battle.
Now, I have to wonder if the Aurors took their stupid pills again or are just naturally stupid. In any case, I'd imagine that the repurcussions and ripples from Tom's defeat, and who defeated him, are going to roil both the Ministry and the wizarding public for a fair while. Meanwhile, Hermione and Harry are off learning to better control their considerable powers. I wonder if Hermione is going to fireflash back for what's left of her stuff and/or Hedwig? I wonder, too, if any that remained friends with her will be asked to join them?
Obviously, there's lots of "interesting times" ahead for them.
