This chapter was very jagged. It was like slitting your wrist with a serrated knife, you keep getting snagged and the pain just gets worse.

I like the metaphor you used there. It's quite adequate. This chapter is there to introduce the main conflict. Though I know things are not quite clear as of yet, bear with me. I am striving to work better.
