I agree with lycus, please try and limit the waterworks. On the other hand, i do realise that you're rebuilding him right now, and that he'll be more of a badass later.
I really like this story. Not because of the literary qualities, because it doesn't have them, but because of the energetic style. Every chapter is biting the bridles to push on. The weaknesses are skills, which can quite easily be learned. You have all the tools. Now use them. Isn't it about time to meet someone he knows and start the Legend?
