Interesting chapter, with some good action. But I find it a bit off the wall. Even if Harry could con the Goblins, I find it difficult to see how he could have gotten away with his charade. Perhaps the only thing that makes it sort of work is the death of the Romanian count. That would pretty much obviate the contract he signed. Remember we're dealing with the magical world. This isn't just a matter of predating contracts and deposits. The contract with the count would have carried magical obligations (remember Snape's vow). It should've been obvious that Daphne was not already married when given to the Count. And as to spoofing the Book of Records. I imagine that would require some powerful magic -- and the assumption that nobody looked at it before. It's presence at the reading of the Banns implies it plays a role in the ceremony (Record books are stored in Archives or Records offices not judicial or legislative chambers). Wouldn't somebody then notice it had been changed? Or Harry could've sat back until there was a hubbub when it was noticed that Daphne was already married. Anyway it was pretty exciting and a fun read.
