I think I should rephrase a comment I made before: The mean distance from the west side of London (Charing Cross Rd/Kings Cross Rd and therefore # 12, which is about twenty minute walk from Kings Cross) to the ‘middle’ of Surrey is roughly 138 km.

I hate guys like that! They make me ashamed to have been born male. Now’s the time to contact other former residents, specifically females, and ask them if the landlord made the same ‘request’ of them. Things like this are not isolated incidents. I’d imagine that while he might have covered himself legally, he could be bankrupted very quickly, if word 'got around'. Still, it gets Hermione into Harry’s house on a constant basis.
My thought was that the curse affects the brain directly, hyperstimulating the ‘pain center’ there, but your explanation makes equal sense.
Pretty much the way it was at my school. The school officials would turn a blind eye to the bullying, even when it took place right in front of them, but when a student had had enough and struck out, they’d be all over him or her.
Sweetly done, and now, Carla has something to call Harry.
If only I was qualified to homeschool my daughter, (and I didn’t have 10-14 hour days on a construction site.) I would do the same. As it is, I give her additional instruction in the areas she is having difficulty in.
