Well, you're a good writer, but you have some awkward phrasing every no and then like "angry turtle". It's cute and odd, but awkward nonetheless because it doesn't bring any images to mind.
I like the concept of a child being the protagonist
There were several opportunities for elaboration and more... depth into the characters, but it was overall well written
