Good speech. You speak the truth, every word of it. Yes, we are a strong family but each one of us, we are who we are as induviduals and it's unjust to throw us all together in one group under one deragatory word. That's what society does though, they take all the truly decent people and lock them away so they can call us crazy.
You have no idea how many times, when people scroll through the trusty Ipod and see MCR and other similar bands, that I have been asked: "Are you emo/goth/depressed/a cutter?" or
any combination of the above.
Hello people, death is a part of life but you move on after the initial pain, knowing the person you lost is in a better place and you'll meet them again later on.
On that note, that British girl obviously had some long term emotional issues that led to her unfortunate death. MCR ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM FOR THAT!
I've had my share of difficult times that this band helped me through and managed to get me back on my feet after but I have never, so far in my life, felt anything close to depressed. I've always had a high self esteem and felt good, relatively happy throughout my short life because of listening to these bands. They keep us all strong through the world's bullshit.
Oh, if these ignorant people actually listened and absorbed the messages of these songs, we would all have a lot different relationship with the media. They won't though, they'll continue to label us horrible things like a "suicide cult" to quote the idiots at the Daily Mail in England.
We just have to keep on living in spite of it and never turn into what they want us to be: mindless followers of the mainstream.
"Haters are gonna hate."
"Be yourself, don't take anyone's shit, and never let them take you alive."
We are a family. MCRmy united forever.
