Background (family life) : Alex and her parents are Chinese, they moved to (insert wherever your story takes place) when she was very little. She is an only child. Her parents treat her well, but are very hard on her when it comes to school. They disapprove of her friends and her taste in music. They've threatened to move her to a private boarding school many times - but have never gone through with it. Alex has debated running away many times, but her friends are the only thing that keeps her sane.
