OMG dude I'm talking about my symbolism for a moment here.
Pottermore (the website) is literally about wizards. Pottermore's title is a mage. Mage is a wizard. PM's eternal optimism and cheery little standing up for friends represents the Hope he's got inside him.
There's also the whole belief-in-magic-even-though-it's-actually-bullshit thing. Hope, in Homestuck theories, is in some cases thought to be the power of belief. The coatrackstaff actually works because Pottermore GODDAMN WANTS IT TO RIGHT NOW.
