I don't usually think of time travel that linearly? Like, basically, people cannot time travel/jump through dimensions. So if you decided to travel through space-time, it would destroy your body in one timeline and recreate it in another.
Which brings us to the crack-science paradox space. Congrats! You've now forged two timelines! There is a timeline where Event A happens, but now there is a timeline where you jumped in and stopped Event A from happening.
But every decision leads to a different off branch of the timeline, eventually causing the timeline to become unstable and like, combust.
So yeah, it would probably be easier to find a reality where you exist and Event A didn't happen, kill your paradox self, and just take their place.
