I love Wakka's total misunderstanding of that communicator... he is such a sweetheart, but always just a little bit off with Lulu! The slightly unequal relationship you paint here-- Wakka with feelings for her, Lulu rather less interested -- is exactly what I thought until I played X-2 (and then went "eh?!" for a while).
The ploy for getting Lulu back to the ship seems just a tiny, tiny bit contrived -- it would be more logical to call for Yuna than have Rikku risk that dungeon alone -- but I can't think of a better way to move the plot along there. Anyway, I'm eager to see what will happen next!
