Sabine smiled as he sat in the makeshift living room, next to Joe, who had Deacon curled up in his lap, much to the despise of Pete, who sat sulking in the couch across from their couch. “So, my Master has a proposition for you and your friends, Pete,” Sabine said as he looked directly at the fellow vampire who lifted a questioning brow at him. “You need to transport you and your friends out of this warehouse, as soon as possible, correct?”

“Yeah, but what the Hell-” Pete growled as he was cut off by Sabine’s soft “tsk”-ing. “What?”

“There is no need for hostility here, Pete,” Sabine said softly as his eyes darkened to show his annoyance. “I have been a polite as I can be, and you keep wanting to push my buttons. I understand your anger towards my kind, because until I grew to accept my turning, I too had your hatred. I hated Aubrey with a passion for taking me away from what I cared most about. I know your pain, and even though I no longer hurt, I still remember what that pain felt like. It is still fresh in my memory, so I sympathize for you, but I know you’re not stupid enough to think that you can keep bring rude and mean to everyone around you.” He lowered his head for a moment before looking straight into Pete’s eyes and pushing right past his mental barrier. “And you can’t push them away forever,” he spoke in his mind so that the others wouldn’t hear this private conversation.

“What do you know?” Pete snapped as he tried to push against Sabine mentally growling when he couldn’t even budge the mental link Sabine had formed.

“I know that I pushed away my bother, my mother, my father, those that I cared most about because I didn’t think they could understand,” Sabine replied. “I also pushed them away so that I wouldn’t risk being so emotionally attached, should I lose what little control I had at the time. I pushed them away to help them, and in the end, up until now when I found my brother, I had nothing. Don’t make the same mistakes I did... See what happens when you push them away? My little brother, that I left to save, left to protect, is now what I am. What did I leave for?”

“You don’t know anything, Sabine,”
Pete replied, though not as viciously as he had been speaking to him. “You only think you know, we’re not the fucking same-”

“You’re right,”
Sabine replied, once more cutting off Pete, “but at the same time you’re right. If you push Patrick away, if you push Joe or Andy away... You could be risking their happiness, as I, then unknowingly, risked my brother’s... Please, Pete, listen to what I have to say, it won’t hurt, I promise. It will save lives, not take them, I promise.”
Pete leaned back in his spot and sighed heavily as Sabine’s words rang through his mind even though they were long spoken. “What does your Master have to say?” Pete questioned softly, making everyone turn their eyes on him.

“He is an odd vampire, but I love him,” Sabine replied with a small smile. “You see my Master, Aubrey, also has human pets, but they are willing, not held. He uses them for daytime work, the things he obviously can’t do.” Sabine crossed one leg over the other as he yawned. “He is offering to loan them to you and your friends, as many as you need, as long as it does not exceed what he has, to help you relocate to your new place. All of your equipment, your supplies, all of your research, all of it can be moved in one day, safely and completely unharmed.”

“What the catch?” Andy asked, since no one else had yet.

Sabine looked at Joe and Deacon, and then at Andy. “You let me take my brother with me, to Aubrey’s,” Sabine answered. “He would not be a prisoner Joe, so you can loosen your new hold on him. My Master’s home is a safe haven, no matter who knows where it is because of the threat waiting inside for anyone who we don’t want there.”

Deacon frowned as he looked at Joe before looking to his brother. “But, Sabine, I don’t want to lose Joe,” he stated, his voice barely above a whisper. “I love him... More than I ever loved Beckett.”

Sabine smiled as he patted his brother’s arm. “You would be allowed to see him anytime you wanted to, Deac,” Sabine assured, smiling as he looked at Joe and then back to Deacon. “I see how much he makes you happy, I wouldn’t want to break you two apart.”

“How do we know your Master won’t screw us over?” Patrick asked, interrupting the moment, with much regret. “I mean, you come out of nowhere, and some vampire who never met us before is making all of these promises? Forgive me for thinking it sounds a bit tricky.”

Sabine nodded as he looked at Patrick. “I understand, but you have to understand, my Master is also my lover. My happiness means everything to him, and if it makes my brother sad to see you and your friends hurt, it would make me sad, and that is something Aubrey doesn’t want. I would say you have time to think the offer over, but no one really knows just where Beckett is right now, or how close he may or may not be to this place at this instant.”

“And if he attacks tonight? Before we make a decision?” Pete questioned, voicing the worry of his friends. That was the main thing he was worried about; an attack before they could figure anything out.

Sabine smiled as he leaned his head to the side. “If my Master, if my lover, values me as much as he does, Pete, do you honestly think he let me come alone? There are two dozen vampires waiting outside, right now, just outside of Andy’s security devices. If anything goes wrong their orders are to rip me out of here as soon as it’s safe.”

“Two dozen vampires have us surrounded, and I can’t even feel them?” Pete questioned, looking pissed, even though Sabine could smell the fear radiating from him. “I call bullshit.”

Sabine shook his head. “If I can move things with my mind, if I can transform, imagine what they can do. You couldn’t even smell me when I was right there in the car with you, curled up in Andy’s lap. We have more power than William Beckett, and we only use it when it’s needed. So, will you take our help, or not?”
