{Disclaimer : This is a work of pure fiction. The initial setup is based on a real life situation, however - as someone once said - the moment you start writing it is always fiction. This should not be construed as my views on the people involved, and the situations that develop are purely developed for the purpose of telling a story, rather than because they reflect reality}

{The scene opens on LB entering the offices. He sees JS at her desk and goes over to talk to her}
LB : Any calls this morning?
JS : Not so far. Its been pretty quiet.
LB : And nothing from the magnificant seven then?
JS : Nope. Well - except for one thing
LB : What?
JS : It seems Phil got some bad news last night so he could not go with Michael to the install.
LB : Who went in his place?
JS : Rob
LB : {eyes widen} You are kidding?
JS : Nope. He was the only available at short notice.
LB : {thought vo} Oh that should be fun {outloud} Is anyone else in?
JS : Andrew came in about five minutes ago. Tony is going to be a bit late. Aside from that tha office is empty
LB : Cool. Means I should be able to get some proper work done!
{He walks in to the main office, nods good morning to AJ then goes to his desk. He turns his monitor on then sits down. In the background we hear a phone ring. He starts typing then the phone on his desk rings}
LB : {picking it up} Hello?
JS : {on the phone} Its Steven.
LB : Perfect. {pause} Hey Steven, what's up?
ST : {also on the phone} Just checking in to be honest. Have you heard from any of the others?
LB : Not yet. I don't know if that's a good sign or not.
ST : Lets assume it is. Peter and I have just arrived. We should be starting in around ten minutes.
LB : Ok - I will let Andrew and Tony know. Was that all?
ST : Yeah. Any problems let me know
LB : Of course. Good bye.
{The scene shifts to ST. He is on his mobile}
ST : Good bye. {Closes it up. Turns to PC} Okay Peter - let's go.
{They walk out of the small office and in to the main area. We can see a lot of workstations around and a number of the staff at the location. ST points over to a desk and he and PC walk over}
ST : Jo. Hi.
Josephine Lyman (JOL) (2) : Steven. At last we meet face to face. This is your associate?
ST : Peter Chase. He is a developer at Gemini and general charge of the installs.
JOL : Hello Peter.
PC : Hello.
JOL : So - what is your plan? I take it you have a plan?
ST : Yes. The install should take the morning then we will start the basic system testing. Hopefully we should be done by the end of the day.
JOL : Then why....
ST : Its not that we anticipate any problems Jo, but how many problems have you had that you have anticipated? I put down two days because if anything should go wrong - which it won't - then I did not want to surprise you by coming back. But I don't think we will be needed tomorrow.
JOL : Okay. Well - if you follow me then we can get started.
{As they walk off the scene fades and goes back to the Gemini offices. TW is walking in through the doors}
TW : Sorry I am late guys. Lucy's car broke down so I had to take her to work.
AJ : That's alright. So far we have had one call from Steven - and that was just to see if we had had any calls.
TW : So its all going well?
LB : Pretty much. What's wrong with the car?
TW : Oh I don't know. You turn the key and nothing happens
LB : Did you take it to a garage?
TW : Nah - they will come out and look at it at lunch time. I am going to pick Lucy up from work and take her home so she will be there. She has the rest of the afternoon off.
AJ : Fair enough. So - does anyone have any idea what we are supposed to be doing while we are sitting waiting for the phone calls?
{Long pause}
LB : I have Duke Nukem installed. (3)
{Another long pause}
TW : Sounds good.
{The scene fades then comes back up - the caption says "fifteen minutes later"}
AJ : Take that Leo! That'll teach you to creep up behind me
LB : Ow! Was that really necessary?
AJ : No. That's why it was funny.
TW : Don't worry Leo - I got your back
LB : I don't have a back - he just blew it away
{In the background a phone can be heard ringing}
LB : Ha! I have the power - you will all bow before me. {Suddenly the phone on his desk rings} Bugger. Guys I have to stop a moment. Could you not kill me?
TW : Don't count on it
LB : {Picking up the phone} Hello. Robert?
RT : {on the phone} Hey Leo.
LB : How's it going?
RT : Not so good. The integration script is not running in properly
LB : Great. Hold on {To AJ and TW} Guys - the integration script at KH Alpha is failing. I need to drop out
AJ : Anything we can do?
LB : I will let you know {Back on the phone} Ok - whats going wrong?
{The scene fades as he continues talking and the words "End Of Part 1" appear}
{Commercial Break}
{Advert 1 : I get the idea of the latest Cancer Charity advert, but is having an eight year old girl in a nightie hugging lots of strangers really such a good thing in the current climate regarding paedophiles?}
{Advert 2 : Adverts for "The Gap". Need I say more?}
{End of Commercial Break}
{The screen shows "Part Two"}
{The scene opens up with LB now facing AJ and TW}
LB : So here's the thing. The integration script works on most systems. But the KH group have an in house version of linux and it runs oracle in an odd way. Michael and Rob are having problems and I suspect that Nigel and John are going to have the same problems at the Lytham site.
AJ : Is there anyway we can fix this?
LB : Rob is going to phone back in five minutes and talk me through the problem. If we can figure it out for that system then we can apply this to the others when they phone in - or we can call them.
TW : Okay. Sounds good. You want to do this?
LB : Well - my database abilities suck but I figure I can give it a shot cause of the unix thing. Either of you want it?
AJ : Not really - we'll cover the phones
LB : Thanks
{The scene fades then comes back up with the caption "ten minutes later"}
LB : {on phone} Ok. Is that working? {pause} Good. {pause} I will let the others know as soon as possible. {pause} Have fun now {Hangs up and turns round} You heard?
AJ : Yeah. It fixed it?
LB : They are now back on schedule, if half an hour behind it. I am going to give Nigel a call and see where they are up to. {Turns back to the phone}
{The scene shifts to another customer site, where NW is answering his mobile}
NW : Hey Leo. What's up?
LB : {on phone} There's been a problem with Rob and Michael at the KH site in Glasgow. Have you hit any problems yet?
NW : One - there was a problem with running the scripts in.
LB : I take it from your tone you fixed it?
NW : Yeah. I renamed them all.
LB : {silence} Oh yeah. Cause that would be the smart thing to do
NW : I take it you didn't do that?
LB : Not so much no. And now I have to curse your name.
NW : Well - if you could wait till tonight I would be most grateful.
LB : Ok. No other issues?
NW : Not so far.
LB : Okay - I will let you get back to it then {Hangs up. NW turns to JT} It was Leo. Robert and Michael had the same problem.
JT : And I take it he didn't fix it the same way as we did?
NW : Apparantly not. And now he is cursing my name.
JT : Cool. Shall we get back to it?
{The scene fades and goes back to the Gemini offices}
LB : ...so if you could remind me that would be great.
AJ : Hey - we all make mistakes. Its fixed - that's the important part.
LB : Yeah - I guess. Anyone else call while I was holidaying in stupidtown?
TW : Pretty much everyone but no one else is having problems. {Looks at his watch} How are we going to handle lunch?
LB : I take it all going at once is out of the question? {smiles} I can wait if you two want to go now.
AJ : Cool. {Gets up along with TW and they both leave. As they are going out AG comes in}
LB : Good afternoon Amy. How are you this fine day?
AG : Oh pretty good. {Looks around the office} Wow. Its quiet.
LB : Yeah. Oh - I have something that will make you smile.
AG : Really?
LB : Phil didn't go on the install with your father.
AG : And that would make me smile why?
LB : Guess who went in his place?
{AG pauses, then a smile does break out across her face}
AG : Oh my. That should make the day more interesting. (4)
LB : He called about two hours ago - they haven't killed each other so far so I think its going pretty well
AG : Well we haven't told Dad about us yet so that might be why.
LB : Still? Are you ever planning on telling him?
AG : Well - no.
LB : What never?
AG : Yes never
LB : What? Never?
AG : So you saw Pinifore on TV last night as well then? (5)
LB : It was that or The Matrix so what choice did I have? (6) But seriously - you are never going to tell your father?
AG : Well - maybe not ever but for the moment it doesn't seem worthwhile. I know Rob and I appear to be serious but we are just getting to know each other again.
LB : I get it - you don't want to burn your bridges yet.
AG : See - smartest person I know. {The phone rings} Who do think think this is?
LB : We haven't heard from Ian, Dave, Danny or Tony yet so probably Peter or your Dad.
AG : {Answering the phone} Good afternoon, Gemini Software. Oh hi. Yeah - I will put you through {Presses a button} Tony? Its Steven for you {Hangs up} Half right. Peter is having a problem with the web-server side of the Project Management stuff.
LB : At least its not me for once. {The phone rings again} See - why do I do this? {Turns and goes back to his desk. The camera stays on AG who picks up the phone}
AG : Good afternoon, Gemini Software. {pause} Oh hey hon - how's it going? {pause} I heard. So is he tormenting you yet? {pause} Wow. Maybe hell has frozen over. {pause} Ok - I will put you through {presses a button} Leo - sorry. Its Rob. {Hangs up} Maybe we should tell him. If they are getting on that well maybe the won't mind so much.
{Flash back thingy and we see AG sat in her lounge. The caption says "five years before"}
MG : So - you want to explain this?
AG : Not really. Why are you back so soon?
SG : I think of all the people in this room you should not be the one asking questions young lady. What's going on?
AG : Rob and I have been seeing each other for about two months
MG : Something you felt you had to hide from us.
AG : Can you see why now?
MG : You are never to see him again. Not in private, not in public. You lied to us and you went behind our backs. You are grounded.
{Flash back thingy and we are back in the office}
AG : Maybe not.
{The scene fades to black. The words "End Of Part Two" come up}
{Commercial Break}
{Advert 1 : Ashamed of your mobile phone? Then grow up and stop being suckered in to spending more money for no reason}
{Trailer : Its "Open House" at Gemini Software. But what will the outcome be? Find out same time next week}
{End of Commercial Break}
{The words "Part Three" come up}
{The scene opens on ST and PC sat infront of a console. There is no computer - just a screen, keyboard and mouse}
ST : So - what did Andrew say?
PC : Basically he thinks its an issue with the services. That although the web-server is running one of the other services - the file control one maybe - is not running. Because of that the Val-Net service won't start properly.
ST : Did he give you a solution?
PC : He is going to get back to us in five minutes. He needs to check the dependencies first
ST : Can't we do that?
PC : Yeah - but it would be quicker for him to do it since he has the source code. We could run the diagnostic tool but it might take a while.
ST : Fair enough. Is there anything we can be doing in the meantime?
PC : Not really. Until the service is running nothing will go in the background properly.
ST : Oh. {long pause} So how do you think it is going so far?
PC : Pretty well. This is the first real problem we have had and Andrew and Tony appear to be on the case. On the whole it could have been a lot worse.
ST : I guess. I think we should be done before quitting time so - if you like - we can drive back tonight. Give you a chance to see Dani before the end of the day.
PC : Okay
ST : You sound less than enthusiastic about that Peter - is there anything you want to talk about?
PC : Not really. Its just... well things are not going too well.
ST : Sorry to hear that. Anything in particular or is it just general stuff?
PC : I think its Leo to be honest.
ST : {rolls his eyes, though PC does not see this} Why is it Leo? He isn't getting between you, is he? (7)
PC : Not in any big way. But he is always there. Its annoying sometimes.
ST : How is he always there?
PC : Its hard to explain. But she always seems to be thinking about him. Comparing what we are doing to what they did. It gets annoying after a while.
ST : So - do you think you can get past this?
PC : I don't know. You've seen Dani - I want to try. She is nice, sweet and fun to be with. But unless Leo can get out the way its never going to work.
{The scene fades and come back up at the offices. LB is on-line talking to EJ}
LB : I don't normally hear from you at this time of day. What's up?
EJ : Nothing really. Bored. Figured you might be doing something more interesting than me.
LB : Ha! Sorry :} There are only three of us in - four if you count Amy. Everyone else is out on development duty so we are sitting around waiting for them to call in with errors and the like.
EJ : Sounds fun. What's happened so far?
LB : I have been strongly considering quitting
EJ : Why?
LB : This whole Peter/Dani thing to be honest.
EJ : You are not letting them push you out - that doesn't sound like you
LB : No. And it's not so much quitting as looking for work. Its just the three musketeers (8) sided with Peter without even hearing my side. They believed I was trying to win Cordy back from him simply because he said so.
EJ : And that bugs you?
LB : Yes it bugs me. On so many levels. They don't trust me - after all this time they don't trust me. And they are trying to meddle in my personal life and you know how much I approve of people doing that!
EJ : You let me meddle
LB : Yeah - but you know me better than them. Plus you are smarter than they are in that area.
EJ : Aww - you make me blush.
LB : Excellent. My work here is done. But - to get back to the topic at hand - its starting to feel a little strange working here. So - I am going to start looking for work.
EJ : Well good luck I guess.
LB : Thanks :} {Phone rings} I have to go. I think someone is calling with a problem. Talk to you tonight?
EJ : Count on it. Have fun :} {LB closes the program down just as the phone starts ringing. He picks it up}
LB : {on phone} Hello? {pause} Oh hey Rob. How's it going? {pause} Really? {pause} Really? {pause} Really? {pause} Excellent. Will you be back in the office tonight? {pause} Yeah - I forgot about that. So - tomorrow then? {pause} Have a nice night. {Hangs up and turns to AJ and TW} Rob and Michael are heading home. It all works just fine.
AJ : Two down, five to go
LB : Two?
AJ : Danny phoned about five minutes ago. They are heading home as well.
TW : I know the office is probably going to explode if I say this - but it all appears to have gone pretty well.
{The three of them hold their breath for a minute, but nothing happens}
LB : I think you got away with it. Now don't say it again! {The phone rings - all three of them moan}
{The scene shifts to the other end of the phone. It is DB and CS}
DB : Pick up guys. {To CS, who is driving} Either they have all gone home or... {in to the phone} Hello?
TW : {on the phone} Hey Dave. What's up?
DB : We are coming home but there is a whole slew of traffic in our way.
TW : You are done then?
DB : Yeah. No problems at all. How's everyone else doing?
TW : Michael and Robert and Danny and Jack are already on their way. We haven't heard from anyone else but since we haven't heard from them they are either having an easy time of it or the customers have kidnapped them and forced them to work in silence.
DB : Sounds like I should have gone with them. How's your day been?
TW : Exceptionally quiet. Its very strange with only four people in the office. And no phone calls so overall its been one of the best days yet.
DB : Okay. I will let you get back to it then {Hangs up} Does this seam way too easy to you?
CS : What?
DB : Well - no one has had any serious problems. Three of the groups are done and it sounds like the others will be done soon enough. What am I missing?
CS : Honestly?
DB : You think you know?
CS : Well this is the first release that has been properly planned. The others have all been rush jobs and so there have been bits missing. I am kind of hoping that the management will learn from this, but I don't hold out much hope to be honest.
DB : You sound a bit put out?
CS : I am I guess. Previous installs have gone badly and staff have been dismissed over them. And since its obviously possible for us to do it right then you have to look to those who organize it.
DB : We will see. How long is it till we get home?
{The scene fades and comes back up in the Gemini offices. LB is alone with AG}
AG : So - everything went okay?
LB : Its amazing. All seven installs went perfectly more or less and the lot of them are coming home as we speak. I can not remember a time when it has gone as smoothly as this.
AG : Maybe its a sign of things to come. The open house is next thursday. Maybe it'll be as sucessful
LB : Have you learned nothing about saying things like that young Amy?
AG : Sorry. You don't know how it went with Rob and my Dad?
LB : No - but they haven't killed each other so I am guessing it didn't go so badly.
AG : That's encouraging. Are you leaving?
LB : I am just waiting on Steven calling, then I will go. What about you?
AG : Robs not coming back to the office so yeah. Can you lock up?
LB : Sure. See you tomorrow. {AG packs up and leaves} I guess its just me.
{Walks round the office closing windows, turning off monitors and computers. Suddenly the phone rings}
LB : {answering the phone} Hey. {pause} Steven? {pause} Good. Everyone else has left {pause} Good. I will see you tomorrow {pause} Really? {pause} Then I will see you the day after {pause} Good night {hangs up} The morning off. Nice {He finished closing the office up then goes over and sets the alarm and leaves}
{The screen fades to black in the office and the words "Executive Producer - Sammy Wrae" come up on the screen. Then the closing credits role, detailing the people who made this possible. But you can live without knowing their names for now, can't you?}

AJ : Cool. {Gets up along with TW and they both leave. As they are going out AG comes in}
LB : Good afternoon Amy.
{AG pauses, then a smile does break out across her face}
LB : At least its not me for once. {The phone rings again} See - why do I do this? {Turns and goes back to his desk. The camera stays on AG who picks up the phone}
{Flash back thingy and we see AG sat in her lounge. The caption says "five years before"}
MG : So - you want to explain this?
AG : Not really. Why are you back so soon?
SG : I think of all the people in this room you should not be the one asking questions young lady. What's going on?
AG : Rob and I have been seeing each other for about two months
MG : Something you felt you had to hide from us.
AG : Can you see why now?
MG : You are never to see him again. Not in private, not in public. You lied to us and you went behind our backs. You are grounded.
{Flash back thingy and we are back in the office}
AG : Maybe not.
{The scene fades to black. The words "End Of Part Two" come up}
{Commercial Break}
{Advert 1 : Ashamed of your mobile phone? Then grow up and stop being suckered in to spending more money for no reason}
{Trailer : Its "Open House" at Gemini Software. But what will the outcome be? Find out same time next week}
{End of Commercial Break}
{The words "Part Three" come up}
{The scene opens on ST and PC sat infront of a console. There is no computer - just a screen, keyboard and mouse}
{The scene fades and come back up at the offices. LB is on-line talking to EJ}
EJ : Count on it. Have fun :} {LB closes the program down just as the phone starts ringing. He picks it up}
LB : {on phone} Hello?
{The three of them hold their breath for a minute, but nothing happens}
LB : I think you got away with it. Now don't say it again! {The phone rings - all three of them moan}
{The scene shifts to the other end of the phone. It is DB and CS}
{The scene fades and comes back up in the Gemini offices. LB is alone with AG}
{Walks round the office closing windows, turning off monitors and computers. Suddenly the phone rings}
LB : {answering the phone} Hey. {pause} Steven? {pause} Good. Everyone else has left {pause} Good. I will see you tomorrow {pause} Really? {pause} Then I will see you the day after {pause} Good night {hangs up} The morning off. Nice {He finished closing the office up then goes over and sets the alarm and leaves}
{The screen fades to black in the office and the words "Executive Producer - Sammy Wrae" come up on the screen. Then the closing credits role, detailing the people who made this possible. But you can live without knowing their names for now, can't you?}
