Joe and Deacon tell the others of Deacon's decision and Joe stays by Deacon, no matter what.
1Exciting
Sabine, Pete, Andy, Patrick, Samoyed, Ryland, and Gabe, who had gone to get Ryland all looked up when Deacon and Joe came down the hall, their hands laced together. “Have you come to a decision, Deac?” Sabine questioned, voicing the thoughts of everyone in the room.
Deacon swallowed the lump in his throat that seemed to have come from nowhere as he looked at his brother. “I’m going to go through with it,” he answered. “I want to be free of William, and my body’s adrenaline addiction. I want to be able to live,” he whispered the last part as he looked at Joe, who gave him a warm and reassuring smile.
“Ryland will be bringing you back,” Sabine explained as he gestured to Ryland, who gave a small smile and small wave, “but you can choose who drains you.”
“Can I pick who does it? Kills me, I mean?” Deacon questioned as his heart began hammering away in his chest as the actual event began to grow closer. When Sabine nodded, Deacon hesitated before he opened his mouth again. “You’re my brother, I want you to do it.” he whispered.
“Are you sure, Deac?” Sabine asked, wanting to make sure it was what his little brother wanted. Though he wasn’t all too sure if he could actually bring himself to take Deacon’s life, even if he knew he would be brought back.
“I trust you, Sabine, and you’re my brother. Please, will you be the one to do it for me?” Deacon asked, his eyes, as well as his tone, begging as he stared at his brother.

Pete and Sabine frowned as they stood in the doorway of the room where Deacon’s dead body was laying. Aside from having a dead body near them, they were bothered by the sight of Joe. Even though the human had known Deacon could be brought back, Joe’s heart was still breaking apart as he held the hand of his loved one. When Sabine was draining Deacon, Deacon and Joe had both decided that Joe, wanting to be there every step of the way, would hold Deacon’s hand as a reassurance it would be okay. Holding Deacon’s hand as it slowly lost its grip before going completely limp had brought a sob from Joe and ever since silent tears made their way down his cheeks as they all waited for the time to be up.
“He really does love my brother, doesn’t he, Pete?” Sabine questioned, not wanting to interrupt the silence that had been unofficially settled through the warehouse.
Pete nodded, a grim frown settled into his features, as he looked at his friend who he had never seen this depressed. “He loves him a bit too much,” he replied, looking at Sabine, who looked at him upon hearing his choice of words. “I don’t like how broken he is when he knows Deacon will be brought back when the time is right.”
“You forget he’s still ruled fully by human emotions,” Sabine countered, shooting him a look before he looked back to his brother and Joe. “They’re in love Pete... Just like you and Patrick. If Patrick had to watch you do something like this he would fall apart same as Joe has. He’ll be fine once we bring my brother back.”
“For your sake, he better be,” Pete warned before turning away and walking down the hall.
Sabine shook his head and moved over to Joe and Deacon, resting his hand on Joe’s shoulder. He looked down at the human who looked up at him after quickly wiping his face. “He’ll be fine, Joe,” Sabine said softly as he turned his eyes to Deacon, frowning slightly. “I know what you’re feeling, you know... Not for the same reason of a lover lost, but because I had to lose him long ago, but then he was alive, now I finally have him back maybe two weeks and he’s laying dead on a bed before my eyes.”
“Are they positive this will work?” He whispered, still looking up at Sabine, who turned back to him when spoken to.
“I’ve seen it work before, he can, and will, come back to us once the time is ready.” He sat down on the edge of the bed, looking with sad eyes to little brother. “It just hurts having to see this. Why do you stay by his side in death? He wouldn’t want you to be sad like this.”
“I promised him I would be here every step of the way,” Joe answered. “That means waiting it out by his side until he can be brought back.”
“I’m sure he wouldn’t want you doing this, Joe... Why don’t you go get some rest?” Sabine questioned, half suggesting.
Joe shook his head and looked at Deacon. “Even though he’s not alive right now, he still needs me. I promised him I would be here during and after he was dead, and I meant it. I appreciate the concern, Sabine, but I really want to stay with my boyfriend.”
“Alright, Joe,” Sabine said with a small smile as he lightly patted Joe’s shoulder. “Just let me know if you need anything, okay?”
Joe nodded, not looking away from Deacon. “Thank you, Sabine... Hey, Sabine?”
“Yeah?” Sabine questioned from the door where he had been moving to leave the room. He looked over at Joe.
“Will he be safe at your Master’s home?” Joe questioned, lightly running his hand over Deacon’s arm, part of him wishing goose bumps would raise on his lover’s flesh.
“He’ll be safe anywhere after this, but I would like it if he could live with me for a little while; make up for lost time,” he answered. “He can leave anytime he wants to, Joe, and he’ll always have the protection of my Master’s men, in and out of the house.”
Joe nodded slowly, listening as Sabine left the room before he got up and leaned over Deacon, pressing a soft kiss by his mouth, a couple of his teardrops falling down his cheeks to land on Deacon’s smooth skin. He sat back down on the edge of the bed and gave a shaking sigh as he hung his head, wishing the time was up. He didn’t know how much longer he could stand the feeling of part of his soul dying.
