Holding the stark white device in her hand , Evelyn sunk miserably onto her bed.
Even though deep-down she knew what the result would be, it was still had to swallow.
Her first instinct was to call Brendon, but she held back. How the hell would she be able to tell him something like this? The night they spent together was never touched on, let alone the possibility of repercussions. They never spoke of a relationship, Evelyn was pretty positive he didn't even want one with her.
But now, she was carrying his baby - his very accidental baby.
Evelyn laid back on her bed, rolling slowly onto her side. She stared at the double lines on the test, pleading with them to go away, but resignedly accepted it wouldn't.

A shrill beeping startled Evelyn some time later. snatching her phone from her bedside table, Evelyn answered the call without checking the number.
"What?"
"Er... hey. You okay?" Brendon's deep voice resonated from the speaker. Evelyn's heart felt heavy in her chest.
"No, not really," she replied honestly. Brendon hesitated for a second, the distant sounds of doors closing replacing his speech.
"What's up?"
"Seriously, you don't want to know. Run while you have the chance," Evelyn replied in a monotone.
Brendon laughed as if Evelyn were kidding around.
"No, really - I want to know. I have to be quick because we're about to start a show, but I really want to know, Ev."
Evelyn paused. He seemed genuinely concerned...
"Okay. Well. I-" Evelyn faltered, struggling to fill the sentence.
"You're.. what? You're sick, insane, trying to kick a drug habit... I can go on.."
"But you'd never guess," Evelyn said flatly.
"Oh really? That sounds like a challenge." Evelyn could almost see Brendon's grin and the glint in his eye.
"Ha!"
There was silence, then a bang on the door from Brendon's end interrupted.
"Ev, c'mon! I'm being summoned," Brendon persisted. With a deep sigh, Evelyn spoke softly.
"Okay. Brendon. I...I'm pregnant."
There. She said it. The cat was out of the proverbial bag.
Brendon went to say something, but another resounding bang on the door halted his speech.
"Ev, it'll be okay. I really have to go. I'll call you after the show, okay?"
"Okay."
The line went dead, and the tears slipped unwanted from Evelyn's eyes.
What came next was going to hurt...
