“What the hell was that!?”
The words reverberated throughout the silent room. Brendon’s luscious lips were curled into an angry pout, but his eyes still glittered with desire. He shifted on the bed, trying to cover the other blatant evidence of just how Evelyn had effected him with her brazenness.
Evelyn sat back on her puffed pillows, suddenly discomfited. She subconsciously wrapped one palm over the other and rested them on her belly.
“Well?”
“Well, what?”
Brendon stared at Evelyn. Evelyn stared at some point on the wall behind his head.
“What was that about?” He asked again. She shrugged. A wry smile curled her mouth up to one side.
“I wanted to prove myself that you were still attracted to me.” Evelyn admitted, her face turned red as Brendon frowned.
“Why the hell would you want to do that? I thought we were just friends, Ev.”
Evelyn sighed. “I know we are ’just friends’ but for some reason I -” the words died in her throat. “I am so not having this conversation.”
“Oh yes we are. I want to know why you just led me on.”
“I told you why, remember. Ego boost on my part.”
“Well that’s just stupid.” He let out a scoffing sound.
“I know, right?” She stared at her hands sadly.
“Why would you need an ego boost, anyway? You’re not some fat ugly girl, you’re a pretty darn hot pregnant woman. Did I tell you, you make a pretty hot pregnant chick? Not to mention, you have the Brendon Urie sitting on your bed.”
Evelyn looked up to see his expression. He wriggled his eyebrows at her, grinning cheekily.
“Idiot,” she muttered, a smile wrestling with her lips. She threw a pillow at him. He caught it, and softly bumped her on the head with it.
“I think you need an ego reduction,” Evelyn commented.
“Yeah, I get that a bit. You know, its not actually that big.” He arched an eyebrow.
“I hope we’re still discussing ego’s here,” Evelyn remarked, grinning.
“Dirty minded woman,” he said, his voice low.
Evelyn laughed, then let out a yawn.
“You should really get some sleep,” Brendon said, getting up off the bed. Evelyn nodded, shuffling around to pull the covers from where they were tucked up under her pillows.
“You should too. I’d imagine sleeping on a plane wouldn’t be to comfy.”
“Eh, you get used to it. Night Ev.”
“Night Brendon.”
Brendon turned off the lights and closed the door behind him on the way out.
Back in his room, Brendon pulled out his laptop from its case. Sitting back on his bed, he started it up, tapping fingers impatiently on the side as he waited.
After what felt like an eternity, but would have equated to 2 minutes, he logged onto his favourite messenger program.
Amongst the contacts online, he searched for Ryan‘s screen name. Immediately, the promise he had made to Evelyn earlier entered his mind.
Was he so gutless that he’d confide in his best friend over the internet? Before he could answer his own question, a message box appeared on the screen.
Ryan: So… care to explain?
Bden: explain what?

There! He’d said it!
There was a distinct lull in conversation then. He pictured them all with their mouths gaping.
Suddenly, all three boys logged off without further comment, and Brendon was the only one left.
And then his phone rang.
The words reverberated throughout the silent room. Brendon’s luscious lips were curled into an angry pout, but his eyes still glittered with desire. He shifted on the bed, trying to cover the other blatant evidence of just how Evelyn had effected him with her brazenness.
