I love the plot twist of the mentor program! Please keep this coming. It took me a while to realize that Heather was human, and one of the fellow classmates, though. It'd be nicer if you could identify people more clearly -- although I know how hard that is to do without your writing sounding stilted.
You know, personally, I don't think Tina really had a reason to complain. I mean, technically it's against the rules to have a houndour, but isn't there some kind of no tattling policy among the students?
I'm probably only saying this, because I like the idea of Tyler's charater. I seem to gravitate towards the dysfunctional psychopaths -- they tend to make the most interesting characters.
Anyway, I still don't think Tina really should have compained. Tyler managed to control his houndour perfectly. They seem to have a good misanthropic bond. Of course, the fact that he just stood by while his little mauler was mucking around with Taja wasn't the best thing in the world -- but I think that had more to do with interest to see who would win on his part.
Personally, I hope that Tyler gets an actual role in this, and doesn't become some 2-D rival or something. Also, his houndour needs a name!
Looking forward to what you have coming up, I extend kudos now, and until next time, may you catch the tiger by the tail.

You're on the right track with Tyler--he's not just a random character thrown in for rivalry points. Everything he does and says has a motive in-story, it's just usually obscured through the Tina-filter. And as far as the no-tattling rule... Well, you'll just have to wait and see.A Different Breed

I know I've already reveiwed before, and I know this is going to sound annoying -- but have you given up on this story?
I really like it, and so I'm a little worried that it hasn't been updated for several months (ha, says me, ruler of not updating). Just curious, because I want to know what happens I want to find out more about the mentor program, and more about Tyler, and more about Tina, and more about -- well, everything, really.
Actually, more importantly I want to be certain that you haven't rolled off the face of the earth. The story must live, and therefore the author must live, yes?
Anyway, sorry to bug you.

^_^ No, I haven't given up quite yet. I'm not dead, either. I'll tell you this, though, I'm very close to skipping this chapter. It refuses to get any longer and I won't post anything that's not of decent length.
Thanks for your enthusiasm--it definitely keeps me going.

The story's fantastic so far. It's a real shame that pokemon stories on this site don't get more reviews.
I'm curious to see what happens with Tyler. It'd be tough to separate him from his pokemon, but it's definitely against the rules.
Looking forward to seeings what's on the way.Author's response
Thanks for your time and review. I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far, and I should have another chapter soon. As soon as Melanie stops being stupid. kicks her
