Diamonds are forever, as the saying goes. She received no lack of them over the short course of her pseudo-courtship with Prince Charming, and on their wedding day she had hardly been able to walk under the weight of all the finery.

Going through her things after the divorce, it struck her as being highly poetic. Though shiny and high-class, the diamonds were plain, cold, impersonal, hard and uncaring. Deciding to simply sell them off, she also discovered that her hastily-purchased engagement ring had come from a conman, and was nothing but a bit of cheap glass made to look nice.

She didn't care much for jewelry, after that. Only for special occasions, and then she'd feel more inclined toward wearing pearls or other gems.

Observing the finery about the ballroom, sparkling stones all about, she returned her attention to keeping her toes from being stepped on again. Bigby's hand was warm and secure against her waist. She wondered, idly, what wolves might exchange as tokens of devotion.
