can you believe how long it's been
since I last talked talked to you
much longer than a month or two
i've stopped calling your cell when
i know you're unavailable
just to hear you say,
"please leave a message
after the beep"
i never really got to know
the palm of your hand
or what could really make you laugh
and i'm sorry for that
even though I tried
but i've finally stopped wondering
what it would have been like
and i'm sure you don't understand
after all this time
