to cd.

fifth grade
was when we first met.
you made my eleven-year-old heart skip
and from what i remember,
you've always been crazy.

sixth grade
was when you "didn't know me".
the start of middle school meant
losing friends to the status quo
and you took that to the extreme.

seventh grade
was when we kissed.
you were the best and the worst thing
to ever happen to me.
three months was a long time for middle school.

eighth grade
was when i became best friends
with your new girl.
she was always prettier, always better.
seven months was longer. lucky her.

ninth grade
was when we didn't speak at all.
there's not much to say besides the fact
that i didn't miss you.
well, maybe a little.

tenth grade
is where we are now.
yesterday,
we swung our hands back and forth
jokingly.

but i know there's still something there.
