yesterday came.
she was sitting in his eyes
trying
to open up the caverns of his heart.
he wouldn't budge.
so she took each laughing lie
and tried to make sense
of jumbled speech.
she didn't want to fall in
so she dug slowly,
taking in every detail
until finally, one day
the eagerness was gone.
