SCENE TWELVE.

Lights up, a big table is set. Harriet is behind the table; it's the receptionist's desk. A name-tag reading "Receptionist" is placed. Harriet is wearing something nice. A white coat, a salmon shirt and a lily-green dress. She is painting her nails red. After a few beats, Diane enters from left.

DIANE. Hey.
HARRIET. Hey! You came in the front door. So, on your way to your first day on floor two?
DIANE. No.
HARRIET. No?
DIANE. I'm staying on floor one.
HARRIET. You're staying!?
DIANE. Yeah.
HARRIET. What made you change your mind?
DIANE. Nothing...I just, I'm not sure I'm ready. It's nice being with just a small group for now. I'm not ready for the big leagues.
HARRIET. That's understandable.
DIANE. Yeah.
HARRIET. So, question: what kinda music do you listen to?
DIANE. I don't know...I really like Kimya Dawson.
HARRIET. I love Kimya Dawson.
DIANE. She has a nice voice.
HARRIET. I thought Juno was so cute.
DIANE. I thought it was okay.
HARRIET. Shut up! That was like, the cutest movie ever.
DIANE. I mean, it was okay.
HARRIET. But I mean, Ellen Paige is so funny. I mean, if I get pregnant I wanna be like her. But, I don't think that's gonna happen soon.
DIANE. I'd be so scared if I had a baby right now...I just, couldn't handle it. I mean...I don't know.
HARRIET. I think I'd be a good parent.
DIANE. Really?
HARRIET. What?
DIANE. Hahah, I just couldn't see that.
HARRIET. Th-anks. Haha.
DIANE. No sense in lying.

(Nadine enters right)

NADINE. Hey Harriet. Diane?
DIANE. Hey.
NADINE. Hey, you're not--
DIANE. --No. I decided not to.
NADINE. Why?
DIANE. Just not ready.
NADINE. How long are you gonna be with us, still?
DIANE. Not really sure. A month? A year? Whenever. I mean, eventually you'll move up too.
NADINE. Yeah. Well, god, that's great you're here. I mean, that's great.
DIANE. Yeah. It's nice.
HARRIET. Yeah. We were just talking about Kimya Dawson.
NADINE. Ooh. I like her, she's so calm. I saw her live once.
DIANE. Me too.
NADINE. Oh, you were at that concert--the one downtown--
DIANE. --By the big--
DIANE, NADINE. Yeah!
DIANE. That was a good concert.
HARRIET. I was just listening to "Anyone Else But You" from Juno...it's not Kimya Dawson. But, it's still in Juno, and it's cute.
DIANE. That's a cute song.
HARRIET. I'm gonna put it on speaker.

("Anyone Else But You" plays)

NADINE. Is that really Michael Cera on guitar? He's so good. (to Diane) Hey, wanna get coffee? We still have time.
DIANE. Yeah.
NADINE. (to Harriet) We'll be right back.

(They exit on the lyric, "You're a part-time lover/A part time friend/The monkey on your back is the lastest trend/I don't see what anyone can see in anyone else, but you")
