The Wizard on the Edge of Forever

When I first started reading this I wasn't sure what to expect. The only other HP/ST crossover I've read to date involved Harry as Mr Black. A very humorous read.
This story covers a much wider sectrum. The mixture is both pleasing and interesting. It kept my attention from the first and I appreciated that you kept track of such details as 'Ron'.
I suspect that Voldemort, or at least his spirit is trapped at Hogwarts behind those wards. I don't know if you will have Harry dealing with him/it down the road or not, possibly so but then again.
While you basically fast forwarded Harry's school years you did have him setup an area to practice his magic. A good way to leave open the possibilities of Harry displaying talents in magic no previously mentioned.
While I am looking forward to Harry's time at Star Fleet Academy I am even more eagerly awaiting to discover just what you have planned for him with the Klingons. Might that be happening when a certain wet behind the ears ensign is serving on his first cruise aboard the Enterprise?
I've many other other questions, I look forward to discovering the answers in forthcoming chapters.

Thank you for your review. I'm glad that you are enjoying the story so far.
I'll admit that your pretty much dead on as to whats behind the wards, and Yes Harry will be resolving that issue, but its still a few chapters away.
When I originally setup th idea of a magic practice area , it was more in the spirit of Harry being able to at least maintain what he knows, not necessarily develop new powers or spells independently of any outside influence. That being said, It's not out of the realm of possibility that he did,its just not something that I had consciously contemplated.
Harry will be running into the Klingons again, Specifically Krulack. The bad news its going to be a bit before that happens. When it does, well the general outline I have is going to be pretty exciting and hopefully unique.
One thing to keep in mind is that I am trying to marry the fictional worlds of Star Trek and Harry Potter with reality. I'm modifying real world incidents and the like to fit the story without being over the top or completely unrealistic. I'm shooting for an atmosphere of "Yeah I can see that happening" or "Hrumph, if I were in his shoes, I'd do it a bit differently, but yeah I can see why he did that."
So far it seems to be working.
Anyway, keep on reading and reviewing.

A quick comment about your discolored blade that you mentioned in your review reply... Don't do ANYTHING to the discoloring. Just make sure the sword doesn't rust and take super good care of the scabbard. If you don't have any paperwork that details the provenance (history) then I suggest that you take some time out and do so - that way you'll increase the value to you, your family and to any collector that may want the sword in the future.
My dad had some guns from WW2, Korea and Viet Nam. The ones that had the papers were appraised at something like four times the ones that have no paperwork.
My last comment is that you should treat the sword with honor and respect. Someone was injured or died due to that blade and I believe that it would be a disservice to the memories of the sacrifices the men, woman, children and animals made during World War I.Author's response
Don't worry, I'm not. That blade has been in my family for over 200 years. and there is no way in hell that I am going to do anything in regards to removing the blade discoloration.
I do have access to the paperwork regarding the blade. I say access, mainly because it's it's all documented in his diaries and an autobiography that he wrote and never published. It's a bear to translate from Danish to English. as my great grandfather had a very classical style of prose. Translating some of his diary entries has been an experience.
Currently the Sword and a dueling flintlock that's even older are currently on display in my house. Both were in the same fight and as far as I know that was the last time the pistol was fired. In both cases the documentation is there, just hard to read if your used to modern ways of writing.
I know that I really should have the leather scabbard repaired, but the funny thing is that so far NO ONE wants to try and do it. Usually they say that they are afraid to even try.
I may have to take it to the University Art Museum and see if they are willing to give it a go. The whole Sword and scabbard is a work of art as it originally was a presentation sword/dress uniform sword, complete with all the gold, ivory and engravings at the base of the blade that you would expect from the time. The Wizard on the Edge of Forever

I reread this a day after you posted, and to me it was a grand mesh of both stories and of mature Harry going out to the stars while also thinking of where the rest of the magicals were.
Kim was the perfect ACC in that she was there as a plot device and did her job in achoring Harry through his teen years.
Pete will be back as well as Winona and Jim too.
I wonder how a Magical would fare not just on Vulcan but Kronos as well. Imagine a Kligon battling a Wizard Warrior!

I'm glad that you like it. While this whole story just seems to be flowing out of me, I can tell you its been a bear trying to get this to be fairly realistic to both universes. Needless to say, there are chapters further down the line that are currently being hashed out while points in the chapter I am writing, I may not have a clue as to where I am going. Surprisingly enough, everything seems to be meshing well for a first time shot at writing.
Pete, Winona and Jim will be back for appearances as necessary as will other characters from the Enterprise.
How Vulcans and Klingons will be addressed in much later chapters. The Wizard on the Edge of Forever

Glad to have been able to read this again, as I loved the way you had Harry handle himself, as well as the character of Kim here, and that she seems to do well here, without being all Super!OFC, if you know what I mean. Good story and can't wait to see what this will mean for the Academy as well.
