Stop apologizing, Russ. The lion's share of us are still with you. It's only a couple who have stomped off in a tantrum. While we're sad to have lost Gabrielle, it's not the end of the world.
So now...HOW DID I MISS THIS CHAPTER? It makes the review I left for the next one look kind of stupid. Okay, I'm calm now...
The funeral was beautiful and Harry's eulogy made me cry. My heart broke right along with his. He doesn't realize yet that she's really with him--a part of him. Knowing what I know about the next chapter now, that stone is going to be useless.
Harry is angry. He's just discovered more stuff had been kept from him. I loved the thing about Dumbledore keeping the ring for himself so he could commune with Ariana. He never got a straight answer to that accusation, did he? If the old man's dying, he'll have all eternity to beg her forgiveness.
The really sad part is that Harry may not trust Dumbledore anymore, but a part of him still loves the old goat. He panicked when he nearly killed him. But the show of power was necessary. Harry will no longer be intimidated. He is the most powerful wizard on the planet, bar none.
Gabrielle left her husband with a charge to make sure his name strikes fear into the hearts of men. Not her exact words, but it's the gist anyway.
She also left him with a promise that she'd always be with him. In what capacity, we dont' know for sure, but the necklace is a clue. When he held it in his hand after the funeral, he could feel her embrace. She's attached her essence--her soul--to Harry through the jewelry.
Nice integration of LOTR, Russ! Nice parallels, too. I never thought that the One Ring could be a Horcrux or sorts, but you're right. It is! If that had been reunited with Lord Sauron, he would have been essentially reborn. The Fellowship is almost like a combination of the Order and a faction of the DA. The difference is that The Fellowship of the Ring actually did something!
I'm glad you addressed something about the Order that has bothered a lot of us critical students of HP. They didn't really do anything until it was too late! They almost always showed up after the fact, doing almost nothing proactive. While they were guarding Harry, they just stood around waiting for Death Eaters to show up. The house was warded! They'd never be able to find it! Meanwhile, Harry's abused and neglected while they stand there with their thumbs in their bums waiting for Dumbledore to spit or get off the pot! BRAVO!
So anyway, having discovered this chapter, the next one makes sense, but my review is tosh. Oh well. Nobody's perfect.Searching for the Power

First of all, the readers have to realize that this is your story. Unless you actually tell them that they can contribute, and give them something to contribute to, they have no say whatsoever. As far as I'm concerned, you're doing a great job. If they want to bitch and moan about it, then they can stop reading. No matter how many of them are petty enough to stop reading for some reason or another (I'm guilty of it myself, but only when people have Harry suddenly grow to like 6'10 in a month from a potion) you still have those that enjoy the story for what it is, and will keep reading. I know that I certainly will. Hell, I only started reading it because it featured Gabrielle and smut, but I got sucked in because it is a great story. Screw them, keep writing. I shall endeavor to make my next post as good as this story has been.Searching for the Power

I love the story Harry Rampage or not, You are in control of this story and anyone who says that they will stop reading is lying. And as for the mystery Slytherin girl I would have to say that I think that it is Tracey Davis, Pansy was enjoying the shag me look, Daphne was enjoying the flirting and Tracey was the only one not getting anything from Harry.Searching for the Power

Why is Harry sorry he finally confronted Dumbs about the fact that he is all but usless and is adding and abiding the enemy with his actions and inactions, is he willing to sacrifice everyone in order to keep Snape safe?
Never understood why someone does not think to cut off the hand which contains the curse

It's very sad to see Gabrielle go, especially as she had the most vivacious and adventurous personality, so she was very special to him. She stands out in my memory, at least. While I'm not at all happy with her death, I can understand why it should happen. Death is something we all have to face, especially Harry, and also us, the readers. I was very unhappy, and I expect a lot of others were too, with some of the deaths She-Who-Must-Be-Named (that disclaimer made me lol, by the way XD) put into Deathly Hallows, if she wrote a sequel I would still read it, just as I'm still going to read yours. Also, at least Gabrielle got a proper sending-off, both in the dream world and in the "real world". It's a very small consolation though; I still don't like that she died.
Onto lighter topics: you had me going back and forth as to whether the mystery girl was Ginny or not, and in the end it was a bit of both - bravo, I didn't see that one coming :) (although I did figure he would notice that the other girl felt and sounded different)
Sauron, and Darth Harry? Come on, that's a bit much! I suppose as long as he doesn't start Force Choking anyone I can move past it, though. Although there was that incident with Ron...
Grammatical error: when Remus and Tonks approach Harry, you have it written as "the Remus and Tonks" instead of just "Remus and Tonks". It's not the first time I've seen that in the story, though I don't remember where else I saw it. I don't mean to be rude, I'm just genuinely curious, but is this translated from another language?Searching for the Power

Dude you suck! Now having said that, it take a powerful writer to make someone cry using just words. I am enjoying your vision and hope that you will continue to follow it. If some don't like where the story is taking you, then they are idiots. Keep doing what you are doing.Searching for the Power

There really is no reason to be sorry. If people want to bitch and whine about how they don't like it they can stop reading and do their own goddamn story. You are doing fantastically and there's no reason to change YOUR story (possibly negatively affecting the flow of your writing) because they don't like it.

You screwed Harry up in this chapter. Yes he cares for Dumbledore, but Dumbassdoor just admitted to practically being an accomplice in Gabrielle's death by not warning and Harry went in there pissed. One paragraph later and they're damn near kissing. Is Harry suddenly just letting everything go? Makes no sense. Still hoping it trips and falls back in my favorite direction
