This is a song that I wrote for/about one of my friends. She's so amazing, and I'm so proud of her for staying strong through everything.

Alive.

We all start out so innocent
But in the end it keeps us separate
We all start out fortunate
Because we all start out alive

She started out so innocent
But she didn’t get to stay

Because they ripped it all away

And now she’s scarred
But she’s not scared
She tried so many times
She tried to force the end
She still looks back but
When she turns to face you
She’s still smiling

She’s happy now
But she still hates him
She’s better now
But she remembers everything
She’s okay and she hopes that
Everything will stay that way

Everyone is staring
As they watch her slowly changing
In hopes that if she changes
It will force the past away

But she’s not scared

She tried to force the end

They think she’s just a novelty
But she is so much more
Aspiring for something normal
For a smile that will last
For a smile that is not a lie
