"...go hang around a bunch of hunters who would love to get ahold of an ex-Dandy..."
1Moving
“You know, I could almost swear you’re trying to get me to hit your heart,” Andy mused as he removed the stake that had just hit Brendon’s chest once more, just barely missing the muscle in his chest. “What’s going on?”
“And if I was, what would it matter?” Brendon snapped as he lunged at Andy, who dodged the attack and got him in the back with his collapsing rod, making Brendon cry out since the hit had not been light. He could almost detect the extra force that Andy had put into the hit. “What the hell!?”
Andy shook his head and put the rod back at his belt. “I’m not here to kill you, Brendon, I’m here to help you train and vise versa. If you really want to die, go hang around a bunch of hunters who would love to get ahold of an ex-Dandy.” He grunted when he was slammed into the nearest wall before he could even blink, his eyes closing to fight off the darkness that threatened the edges of his vision. When he opened his eyes, he saw the pain lurking in the black eyes staring back at him and he shook his head. “I won’t kill you Brendon, and I know I’m not Deacon, but I wish you would talk to me.”
Brendon surprised Andy by letting his head rest on his shoulder, a soft whimper sounding in his throat as he loosened the force that he was pinning Andy with. “I… I’m sorry, Andy, I shouldn’t be taking this out on you,” he whispered as a pair of arms encircled him and began rubbing his back. “Don’t do that, don’t comfort me when I just hurt you.”
Andy frowned as he lightly nudged Brendon’s head with his own and continued rubbing. “You’re in pain, Brendon, you’re in no mood to fight either, it’s going to get the better, or worse, of you. What happened when you left here yesterday?” He frowned more when he realized Brendon was shaking in his arms, and a faint wetness was starting to seep through his shirt onto his shoulder. “Brendon…”
“Let me in your mind,” he whimpered softly, his voice cracking, “I can’t…say it.”
Andy chewed on his lip ring post before he opened his mind to Brendon, not fighting him away when he felt the familiar soft pressure in his head. He had never seen a vampire’s memories before, so to watch the memory of the incident as if it were his own literally took his breath away. He felt like he was reliving the memory as everything in the room disappeared and was replaced by the scene, but he could still feel Brendon pressed against him. He felt his own chest tighten as Brendon’s had, and when Brendon left his mind, Andy blinked a couple of times, giving his head a small shake. “Jesus…”
Brendon removed his hands from being on either side of Andy, and wrapped his arms around the older male, desperately needing the closeness as his body shook more. He broke down in Andy’s arms, crying his eyes out as Andy held and comforted him, not even caring that he was showing everything to this human he barely knew and at one point had tried to kill when he worked for William. He didn’t even know why Andy was letting him be like this, but truth be told he didn’t even care right now, he was just in so much pain and he could finally let it out without Ryan hearing.
Andy softly stroked Brendon’s hair and held him close as he cried out his pain. He glanced up when Deacon and Pete walked into the room, obviously having heard the crying with their hearing. He looked down to Brendon and frowned as he looked back up at them before Deacon got the point and pulled Pete from the room so Andy could continue comforting Brendon, who oddly hadn’t even noticed them. He bit his lip as he realized that Pete and Deacon were the only vampires he had ever met that he considered could feel as humans do, but now he was getting the idea that they all could, if they let themselves. Brendon had obviously chosen to keep his humanity about him, but go along with all the other changes.
He continued his slow ministrations until Brendon’s trembling stopped, and Brendon was sighing softly against his shoulder. He looked down when Brendon’s head lifted, and the dark brown orbs looked up into his blue-green eyes, before he brought one hand from Brendon’s back, to Brendon’s face, softly brushing away the tears that stained the porcelain cheeks. “You’ll be okay, Brendon, you’re strong enough for this,” he spoke softly as he stared into the dark brown eyes. “You’re just caught in the beginning of the pain, you can make your way through.”
Brendon offered up a weak smile as he slowly pulled away from Andy, wiping at his own eyes as he shook his head. “I’m sorry you had to be stuck in that awkward moment,” he said as he looked to the ground, finding himself unable to look at Andy anymore since the human had seen his breakdown. When a gentle hand lifted his head, he let it do so, and he stared at Andy with a small frown.
“You’re having a hard time right now, Brendon, and obviously I should be the one apologizing since I’m not doing my job at keeping your mind off of everything,” he said with a small playful smile. “So, I’m sorry.”
Brendon shook his head again as Andy lowered his hand from his chin. “No, don’t apologize,” Brendon said as he took a couple of steps back to put some distance between them. “I just haven’t dealt with the pain of a break up in a long time, so it’s pretty much like the first time for me.”
“How long, if you don’t mind me asking?”
“Several years, I couldn’t even tell you what year anymore,” Brendon said after a few moments of trying to think of the answer.
Andy nodded. “That IS a long time, isn’t it?”
Brendon sighed as he tilted his head at Andy. “Why did you let me in your head?” He questioned as he remembered what Andy had done for him. “Trust me, I’m not complaining, but I sort of expected you to put up a fight over it.”
“I could tell it would really bother you to have to say it,” Andy answered as he took out one of the stakes and fiddled with it, needing to occupy his hands, “I didn’t want to cause you anymore pain if I could help it.”
[Author's Note: Yay another chapter!!! A sad note for Brendon, but hey, at least he got the comforting he needed from his new friend =). All the reviews that I've been getting have been love love loved! Thank you all so much =)]
