“So, you have no idea why the mansion was attacked, only that it was?” Pete asked Gabe as Adam worked on removing the numerous mercury bullets from Gabe. No one was sure how he was still living after so many bullets had entered him. Pete frowned when Gabe screamed in pain as Adam pulled a bullet hat had been lodged in his shoulder’s ball joint.

“That’s about it,” Gabe growled out through his teeth as Adam went for another bullet that was buried in bone. “We were all getting ready to hunt-FUCK!”

Adam and Pete cringed at the sound of metal scraping bone as Adam removed the bulled he had been after. After every bullet he removed, Patrick was working behind him to clean out the areas and make sure no chips or pieces from the bullets were left behind.

Gabe groaned as he fought to keep from biting someone even though he knew they were trying to be as gentle as they could be. “We were getting ready to go hunt, and out of nowhere, like a bad action movie, windows are breaking and the front door is being kicked in. Vampires from some clan that I’ve never seen Pete. I don’t even have any enemies anymore, so who the fuck attacked my-FUCK!-home?”

Pete and Patrick stared at Gabe as a loud string of Spanish erupted from his mouth; only Adam was completely unfazed. Patrick went to work cleaning the place where the next bullet had been removed from; Gabe’s wrist joints.

“Are you sure there isn’t someone you pissed off lately?” Pete questioned, cringing as Adam started working on the four in Gabe’s abdomen.

“The only vampire I can think of is William Beckett. But, we all know you killed him, and then our three covens killed off the Dandies and burnt down the mansion.” He growled before he spat out another string of Spanish. When he calmed himself, he looked at Pete. “With Beckett dead, and his coven of Dandies destroyed, there is no one I’ve pissed off. Especially since he had no allies but his own coven.”

Pete sighed as he ran his fingers through his hair while he tried to sort out this mess. “Do you know who all got out of your home?”

Gabe nodded slowly and sighed as yet another painful bullet was pulled from his ribs. “As soon as I started getting some of my strength back I started doing a mental round-up of everyone at the house. Somehow everyone got out okay, a couple of wounds, but nothing as bad off as I was.” He looked at Adam when the younger male announced that he was done removing all of the bullets. “Thank you, Sisky, for helping me.”

Adam smiled at Gabe and took his good hand in his own, giving the darker hand a small squeeze. “Don’t thank me for it, Master,” he said as Patrick continued to finish cleaning the spots, which Gabe closed up on his own when it was safe. “You know I would do anything for you after everything you’ve done for me.”

Gabe turned his attention to Patrick, who was finishing up the last bullet hole, which was right above Gabe’s navel. He brought up his other arm and patted Patrick lightly on the back. “And thank you, Patrick, my medic couldn’t have had a better assistant.”

Patrick shook his head. “It’s okay, Gabe. We have some of the regular blood that we keep for Deacon, would you like some of it?”

Gabe nodded. “It’ll help me get some of my strength back,” he said as he swung his legs over the edge of the table and sat up on the edge. He watched Patrick head out of the room before he sighed and rubbed the back of his neck, trying to ease away his tension.

“So, can you explain things a little now?” Pete questioned, not wanting to rush his friend, but he needed to know what he could tell his sister and her group when they showed up.

Gabe nodded and sighed as Adam moved to stand next to him, their hands locking together. “As I said, they bust in through the windows, bust down the door, every exit was filled with them. I couldn’t even get to the emergency exit, somehow they knew to block it too…” He frowned. “I know all of my pets would never rat me out to some rival clan Pete, especially since I don’t exactly have one of those right now. I cant think of who would want me dead, but one of them, he had these steel grey eyes and black hair, covered in tribal tattoos. He was the one that shot me up before one of my fighters shot at him. It got his face, but it didn’t kill him, went through his cheeks since he had turned, trying to avoid the bullet getting him in the head.”

Adam frowned as he remembered being held down by two of the attackers, keeping him from getting to Gabe before too much damage could be done. Ryan Ross had come after the attackers, knowing Adam could get Gabe out of the mansion, and as soon as Adam was freed he had done just that.

“This doesn’t make any sense,” Pete said as he shook his head.

“No, it doesn’t,” Gabe said as Patrick came back in and handed him a couple of the blood packets, which he worked on draining, knowing how important it was for him to get his strength back as soon as possible.

Deacon opened the door for Hilary and her friends, hugging Hilary when she turned to him with a small, tight smile. He shut the door as soon as Claire and Micah had followed in behind Salcido and Nate, his eyes roaming over them when he noticed something was off. His bad feeling from earlier returned with a vengeance, but was slightly tamed by the fact that six of Aubrey’s fighters were waiting outside, their presence masked from everyone as they awaited any sign to rush in.

“We got here as quick as we could,” Claire said, shooting a look at Salcido. “Would have been here sooner if someone would have hurried up and been ready when we first called him.”

Salcido shot a look at Claire, that chilled her blood and made her move slightly closer to Micah. “I already told you I had shit I had to take care of,” he growled out as he looked at Deacon. “Sorry if it was an inconvenience,” he said before his nose picked up a smell. “Who got hurt?”

“If you were paying attention, you would know what was going on,” Hilary said as she rolled her eyes. “Their friend Gabe s home was attacked and they needed back up in case someone tried to cause a problem here.” Hilary furrowed her brows at the look on Salcido’s face. “What?”

Nate sensed the sudden tension in the room as Deacon’s eyes moved to Salcido, the arctic blue orbs slowly turning black as his lips began to pull back. He moved to stand in front of Hilary before she could even bat an eye, and before anyone knew what was going on Deacon was pinning Salcido to the wall. The impact sent spider-web cracks outward from the impact spot, the force alone would have shattered a humans chest plate, but Salcido merely growled out in pain.

“What the Hell is going on!?” Hilary and Claire demanded almost at the same time as Micah quickly moved to stand in front of Claire, his weapon drawn and aimed on Deacon, confusion etched in his features.

“Samoyed!” Deacon called out, pushing harder against Salcido who was now baring his fangs at him as he struggled frantically to get free. He looked to the door when Samoyed came rushing in, his weapon automatically aiming at him and Salcido.

“Deacon would you please explain what the fuck is going on?” Hilary demanded, peering around Nate, who moved to keep her from getting around him.

Gabe, who had heard the commotion, and was curious, got down off of the table, where he had been sitting, and walked out of the room, followed by Adam, Pete, and Patrick, and stopped in the main room when he saw Deacon and Salcido. “How in the Hell did he get here?” He growled out as he stared at the steel grey eyes that landed on him, widening when they took him in.

“Damn it!” Hilary exclaimed in sheer frustration and confusion. “I said what is going on!?”

“He was one of the bastards that attacked my mansion,” Gabe answered, his voice cold as he walked towards Salcido and Deacon. He watched as Salcido tried to escape, only to be slammed back into the wall by Deacon, who had smelled the used bullets and the smoke from the attack. “As a matter of fact,” he moved over and grabbed Salcido’s jaw, looking at the faint scar marks on either side of his face, “this is the one that tried to kill me.”

Hilary’s eyes went wide as she stared at the vampire that had been around her all this time, the one who was supposed to help Nate keep her safe. As she stared at the struggling vampire, things began to fall in place. How sometimes vampires would get away when it was his turn to kill, or supposedly one was too fast for him. Since it wasn’t always the case, and some actually were killed, could it be that he was weeding out who he did and didn’t kill, be it on his own or based off of orders.

Pete frowned as something else came to his mind when he read his sister’s mind. “We might have a bigger problem…”

Samoyed looked at Pete. “Do you want me to secure him for questioning, or should I just kill him now?” He questioned, his eyes moving to the squirming vampire before they returned to Pete.

“Secure him,” he instructed as he looked to Joe, who was watching with his body tensed, obviously worried for his lover, where his eyes were focused, “Joe, show him where the interrogation room is. Now.”

Samoyed moved to Deacon and grabbed Salcido’s head, slamming it into the wall, hard enough to put a dip in the brick wall, and knock out the other male. He watched as Salcido crumpled against Deacon before he took the unconscious vampire from Deacon’s arms, sending a mental call to one of the other fighters hidden around the compound. When one came to stand beside him, he got help from the other vampire, Cawthorne, to use some mercury wire to secure Salcido’s ankles and hands.
