Travis McCoy smiled as he slowly ran his fingers through his life mate’s hair, watching her sleep soundly, having always slept in after him. He didn’t know how she could sleep as much as she did, but he still loved her nonetheless. He smiled when he ran his fingers through her hair once more and her lips pulled into a small smile. “Are you finally awake, love?”
Hazel’s eyes slowly opened, letting their brown eyes meet each other as she smiled more. “What do you think?” She questioned as she leaned up and kissed him softly, running her tongue along his lower lip before she straddled his lap, grinning down at him.
“I think you are definitely awake,” he said with a small chuckle as he put his hands on her hips, giving them a firm squeeze. When she bent down towards him, he met her lips with his own, wasting no time in sliding his tongue past her lips to fight with her tongue for dominance of the kiss. He moaned into the kiss as Hazel rocked her hips against his own, causing heat to coil in his lap as he brought his hips up against hers.
She moaned as she moved her mouth to his neck, licking his Adam’s Apple before she tangled her fingers in his hair and kissed him deeply. She took over the kiss as his hands slid up under her night shirt, caressing her skin and sending chills down her spine. When someone knocked on the door, she growled in her throat, but refused to stop the kiss, rocking her hips as encouragement for him to do the same.
When the knock sounded again, more impatient this time, Travis gave a frustrated growl and broke the kiss. “What!?”
“Travis, I need to talk to you! It’s important!” Called the voice outside the room.
He frowned as he looked up at Hazel, who was obviously not pleased. “I’m sorry Hazel, but you know we don’t use the word ‘important’ lightly here,” he said as he kissed her softly and gently moved her off of his lap. He got up from the bed and pulled on his pants, leaving his shirt off in case it wouldn’t take long, and walked to the door. When he opened the door and stepped outside of the room, he shut the door behind himself so that Disashi wouldn’t be able to see his lover. “What’s going on Sashi?”
“Travis, we need to speak in private,” Disashi said, a deep frown etched in his dark skin. “It’s a serious matter.”
Travis frowned and nodded, walking with Disashi down the hallway, and then down the stairs to the bottom floor of the two-story home. Making their way down another hall, they stopped at a door and Travis entered his PIN on the keypad by the door, and when the door opened he walked inside with Disashi. Everyone in the house that was part of Travis’ close circle was given a PIN that granted access to the private room Disashi spoke of. All numbers were stored in a database that only Travis could access incase of problems since some of Travis’ information was stored in the room. Something went missing, he could track who took it by their PIN alone.
They walked down the hallway that the door opened up to, to another door, with another keypad, that Travis put his number into and walked into the room with Disashi, who shut and locked the door. The room, after walking the hallways to get there, was almost a mile away from the house and a mile underground. A safety to make sure no one could just stand by a door and listen in. If anyone if the house needed whoever was in the private room there was a land line that only went to that room, but the line in the room could call anywhere, since cell phones were near impossible this far down.
Inside the room, Travis and Disashi sat at one of the two tables in the room, and looked at each other. “So, do you want to tell me what is going on?” Travis questioned.
“Matt is on his way home, he just left Tom Conrad’s home, and when he contacted me telepathically the boy was having as close to a heart attack as possible. He went to the deliver the package that Tom had called him to go get and William Beckett opened the door, his neck all kinds of fucked up.”
“I thought William Beckett was dead?” Travis frowned as he leaned back in his chair.
“That’s the word on the street, Travis, but get this. Do you remember Spencer Smith?”
“Wasn’t he one of William’s top assassins?”
“Ranked right underneath The Butcher,” Disashi said, confirming the question. “Back in the eight hundreds William Beckett and Tom Conrad hunted together, William even turned Tom so that they could keep their friendship through death. William wronged Tom, left him to die at the hands of a group of hunters, so they hadn’t spoke since then, except once. Then William makes the mistakes of biting, but not fully turning and keeping a human, Pete Wentz.”
“The same Pete Wentz that our friend Gabe was helping with some kind of blend?” Travis questioned, wanting to keep up with who was who in this story.
“Yes. Now, we have to back track to the war between Tom and William, where their clan members would attack each other on sight, or with orders. But a couple months after William bites the human, he goes to Tom, and suddenly all fighting has ceased, but they are not close. As a gift, and a hope for a truce, William gives Tom a new pet, who is now his lover. Back to the present. Pete Wentz is pissed because everything he had is robbed from him because of William. So, his friends, who stuck by his side through his turning, start hunting down him and his Dandies using informants, who are still unknown to us.”
“What does the pet have to do with anything?” Travis questioned, leaning forward.
Disashi shakes his head. “No idea, Travis, not even Matt could get that information out of Tom.”
“He found all of this from Tom?” Travis questioned.
“When Tom was giving him payment for the package, he enquired about the mottled scar on Beckett’s neck, and Tom told him their history to explain how he knew William, and how he was helping William get revenge for the mark. Which is good, because this means he has yet to figure out that he was planted there by us to keep an eye on a rival clan.”
“That’s good for Matt’s sake,” Travis said as he leaned back in his chair again. “So, where is this story going?”
A dark look filled Disashi’s eyes as he leaned back in his own chair. “Pete Wentz is the one that caused that scar, Travis. He is the one we heard of, that ripped out William’s throat, so bad that he will never speak again. Before this could happen, and before his death, Spencer went to Tom, knowing of the truce between the rival clans, and asked for help for his Master, in case things got out of hand. Tom granted his wish and planted a spy that William took in for fighting purposes, not knowing Tom had sent him there. The vampire, Salcido, was there that day, hidden in the shadows, masked, as Pete ripped out William’s throat and then carried him to safety.”
“We should tell Gabe about this,” Travis frowned as he got up and started pacing, worried about his friend.
“There is more…” Disashi sighed. “As revenge, William is slowly wiping out Pete’s back up, his resources for defeating him before he goes in for the final kill. He already started.”
Travis stopped his pacing and looked at him. “What do you mean? Who did he start with?”
“On his way home, Matt made a stop at Gabe’s mansion, because Tom told him the home was attacked. He wasn’t lying, it’s been burned to the ground.”
Travis sat down in his chair, feeling as if the air had been knocked out of his useless lungs. “I want to find Pete… I want to help him so that my friend’s death won’t be for nothing.”
“I’ll contact Rayne,” Disashi said as he got up from his chair and put his hand on Travis’ shoulder. “She can find everyone, she can find him, and we’ll go from there.”
[Author's Note: In all honesty, it took A LOT, and I mean A LOT, for me to get this to you guys. Simply because I'm a bit disappointed still at all that I lost... For those of you who didn't see my updates the past week, Shaun's comp did a reset and I lost everything. Chaps 13-18 of this story and then 2 one-shots I owed people. I'm trying to keep the updates coming even though now I'm starting essentially from scratch on this story. Please review? I need the smiles right now]
