Chapter 5

Bob sighed as he looked at the clock of his job. It was finally time to go and one should be so happy, but a terrible feeling was plaguing Bob inside and out as he gave a sharp nod to Frank who waved. Bob entered his car and chewed on his lip ring as he waited for the light to turn green. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. He made an abrupt turn and made his way down to Crimson. As he came closer the feeling became stronger and sped up a little. Something wasn’t right. He never felt this way before.

“Lola.” was all he managed to say as he parked his car and walked up to the secret door of Crimson…

A heart monitor was all that made a sound as Ray waited for Lola to wake up from her mini coma. His soft fro danced slightly from the air conditioner. He felt his phone beep and he sighed as he looked down. His free time was over. Ray rolled his eyes as he stood up and kissed Lola on her forehead.

“I’m sorry.” he repeated as he looked down at her once pretty stature. Now it was bruised and bloodied from the previous event. He brushed her hair out of her eyes and made his way out the door and back to his car, recalling the sad delirious moment when he had been in Lola’s shoes. He shook his head at the thought of him passing the torch to her…things weren’t meant to be this way.

Bob entered the door and knocked on Mistress’ door. When no one answered, he looked around until he heard faint voices around the corner. He followed the noise when he saw Mistress and a man he had not seen been before conversing.

“What do we do about Evan? If he tells anyone else, we are screwed.” she whispered.

“I am aware of that Katherine, we’re just going to have to shut him up, and do the same with Lola. If she wasn‘t the best here, I would‘ve disposed of her a long time ago.” Bob leaned in closer at the sound but frowned when they had walked away. He furrowed his brow in confusion when Kimber bumped into him.

“Kimber.” he said quietly and Kimber uneasily shuffled on her feet.

“Bob…can I help you?” she said nervously.

“Where’s Lola?” he cut to the chase and she looked down.

“She’s not here. I have to go.” she said quickly when Bob pulled her arm back as she gulped.

“Kimber please. Where is she?” he said firmly and she looked up into his icy blues with a worried look.

“She’s in…she’s in the…hospital.” she whispered and Bob’s eyes turned dark in less than a second.

“Why?” he asked.

“She was…beaten by a client.” her lip quivered at the thought and Bob didn’t respond before was back in his car speeding away to the hospital like his life depended on it. He ran past a red light but he didn’t care, there was more important things to worry about…

He got to the hospital and quickly grabbed a gift before walking to the front desk.

“Can I help you?” the woman asked sweetly.

“I’m looking for Lola Minardi.” he said carefully remembering her last name she told him once in a visit.

“I see, what is your relationship to the patient?”

“I’m her…fiancé.” he lied and she seemed to buy it.

“Okay, she’s in room 403.”

“Thank you.” he smiled and paced to the elevator.

Sucker…

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

Lola fluttered her eyes open only to close them from burning sensation and blinding light. She groaned as she tried to sit up but yelped when a brutal pain ripped through her stomach. Her head throbbed as she looked at the dripping IV that connected to her wrist. She sighed as she sat alone in a white room. She remembered what happened, but after Ray carried her off she blacked out. She couldn’t believe things had gotten that far. She wondered when someone was going to check on her, it was too quiet. A knock on her door may her head snap out of her thoughts.

“Finally I was wondering when you would…Bob?” she asked confused. He half smiled and stepped in his smile fading when noticed the bruises and band aids on her body. Lola began to wonder how bad she looked as he shook his head sadly.

“Oh Lola.” he whispered as he sat down on her bed. His thumb brushed against her swollen purple cheek with gentleness.

“What did they do to you?” he whispered and she shrugged.

“I guess some people don’t like it when you tell them no.” she replied and he sighed.

“How did you know I was here?” she asked confused.

“Kimber.” he replied softly.

“Oh.” she whispered.

“You don’t deserve this. Any of this.” he pointed to her wounds.

“Bob please.” she sighed.

“No! What kind of place are you stuck at?!” he yelled and she winced from his tone. He kneeled in front of her so she looked directly into his eyes.

“They beat you Lola.” he said firmly. “Why?” he demanded and she shook her head.

“Bob it’s a long story-”

“Then get to it, cause I’ve got all night.” he pressed and she glared at him but did was she was told.

“Siren is the main boss that runs Crimson. We’re not just people who were hired. We were sold into sex slavery Bob. I’m not even from here. I was brought here by another boss. I’ve been forced to do this since I was kidnapped three years ago in New York.” she looked down and felt tears slide down her face.

“Crimson is the second house in New Jersey. I don’t know where the other one is. We’re starved, we’re overworked, there is no breaks. We’re not even human in the bosses eyes. I’ve been captive for so long. Evan is the one who beat me. He’s Siren’s best pal. He’s ruthless and no one can say anything.” she sobbed and Bob pulled her into an embrace.

“You have to get out of this.” he urged and she sighed.

“Bob I can’t! They will kill me if I ever tried to escape.” she half yelled.

“Look.” she said holding up her arm and showing him her wrist.

“You see this?” she asked and pointed to a faint number.

“That’s my code. I’m branded and binded.” she said angrily.

“No. You’re not going to live like this.” Bob repeated. Lola threw her hands up.

“Why do you care for me?” she whispered. “I don’t understand.” Bob looked down and then up into her wet brown eyes.

“Because I love you Lola.” he replied and she shook her head.

“You can’t.”

“Why not?!” he yelled.

“Because!” she yelled back. “There’s no future with me. I having nothing to offer you. Bob, I can’t even have children because of what’s happened. They took everything from me and I have nothing to give. You deserve much better than me. I will never be able to have a child.” she said softly while finally coming to terms of what has happened. Bob grabbed her chin gently and made her look back at him.

“None of that matters Lola. I only need you. Everyday I think about you, this situation, no one deserves. You are so much more than this.” he said softly and set down the flowers next to her bed. She smiled softly.

“Come with me.” he told her and she looked up at him, remembering what Evan told her.

“I may not make the salary of a millionaire, but it’s enough to suffice. But I’ll treat you like the princess you are. You’ll never have to worry about anything. I’ll love you with everything I have. But you have to come with me. We can go far away from here.” he smiled softly and she began crying again, but this time happy tears.

“You mean it?” she asked and he nodded as he reached for her hand.

“I’ve never been more sure.”

“But why me?” she asked him again and he smiled.

“Because there’s nobody in this world I want besides you. I don’t know any other Lola Minardi’s. Do you?” he asked and she laughed slightly and shook her head. Bob looked around before looking back at her tired face.

“Let’s go.”

“Now?”

“Yes.”

“But how?” she whispered worriedly.

“Just come on.” he urged and stood up and grabbed her IV before sliding it out of her vein. Her face looking of complete shock. He unplugged her heart monitor and took off his coat before wrapping it around her. He put his hands under her body and picked her up gently to her dismay.

“Oww.” she whimpered and he kissed her head.

“I’m sorry baby. Just try and bare it.”

“Bob there’s no way we can just walk out of here. I‘m still a patient.”

“Watch me.” he retorted and pulled her in tighter, sustaining her full weight. He moved swiftly out the door and turned left to the back of the hospital. He stopped at a corner when he heard voices but continued on until he reached a door and a stairs case. He had the hospital down after many adolescent visits. He carefully walked down the flight of stairs until he saw a door and pushed it open with the small of his hands as it lead to the backside of the hospital. Lola felt the chill breeze of the cold night as it hit her in the face and causing a break out of goose bumps on her legs that were exposed to the air. Bob looked down on her.

“Are you okay?”

“I’m fine.” she replied and nestled into his chest. Bob nodded and carefully walked around the building and to his car. Right when he reached the door a voice made Lola’s head snap up.

“What the fuck is this?” someone asked and Lola looked up at Bob. He looked pissed as his eyes met hers. Lola looked back to the person and cringed with fear. Her hands slightly shaking.

“Gerard.” she whispered as Gerard glared at both of them.

This wasn’t as easy as she thought it would be. This wasn’t a fairytale…
