“I can’t fucking take it, Mikey,” Pen said into the phone. She was sitting on a bench a few blocks away from Bob’s aunt’s house; she had told everyone that she wanted to get some fresh air by herself.

“Well, what’s wrong? I thought you were excited about meeting Bob’s family?” Mikey said, tilting his head to the side in his kitchen. Gerard walked in while he was speaking, and asked who it was. “Pen,” Mikey mouthed to his brother. Gerard grabbed the cell.

“Hi, Pen!” he yelled to his friend, who laughed.

“Hi, Gerard.”

“Whatcha doin’?” He nonchalantly held Mikey away with one arm while he spoke, ignoring his little brother’s insistence that he hand over the phone and “…get the hell out!”

“Nothing. I was talking to Mikey about stuff.”

“Ooh, what stuff?”

“Mikey-stuff.”

“Is that also things-Gerard-can’t-know stuff?”

Pen laughed again. “Sorry, Gee. This time, that’s exactly what it means.”

“Awh, I understand. I’ll talk to you later, Pen.”

“Okay, Gerard.”

“Hi again, Pen.”

“What do I do, Mikey?”

“About what?”

“Margot!”

“Who’s Margot?” Mikey was utterly confused.

“Ugh,” Pen said, collapsing back onto the bench and tilting her head back. “She’s this fucking whore that lives across the street from Bob’s aunt. Apparently, she and Bob were ‘…closer than brother and sister!’ You should see the way this chick pushes herself on him, Mikes. Honestly, she moons over him like…like she’s in love with him or something! And get this, they had sex. And she just told me that! Can you believe it? We’re just sitting there and she says that! What the hell do I say to that? And then, this morning, before we were even out of our pajamas, she comes bursting in the door, all over Bob like he’s not engaged or something! Ugh!” She kicked her heels out at the concrete, earning questioning looks from passerby; she didn’t notice.

“Well…” Mikey said, not quite sure what he was going to tell her. “Have you talked to Bob about it?”

“I talked to him last night; he told me not to worry about it, and to just ignore her. Just ignore her! How am I supposed to ignore her if she’s hanging off my fiancé 24/7?”

“Well…You trust Bob, don’t you?”

“Of course I trust Bob! I have more faith in him than in anyone else. It’s that dumb skank I don’t trust.”

“Well, even if she makes a move, are you confident that Bob’ll reject her?”

“Well…” Pen sat back and thought. “I think he’d try to, but his testosterone would kick in. You’ve gotta see this girl, Mikey. Honestly, she’s tall, thin, blonde, and just ridiculously pretty, as much as I hate to admit it. She and Bob would have gorgeous children,” Pen said, frowning at the thought.

“Pen, honestly, Bob is in love with you. Is there ever a time that you two are apart except for when he’s at work? He is so head-over-heels in love that he would never even look at another girl like that.” Mikey smacked himself for saying that, mostly because it was all true.

“I don’t know, Frank. She seems mad at me. She never gets mad at me.” Bob scratched his head and wrinkled his brow, perplexed by his dilemma.

“Dude, obviously she’s mad. She just found out that you fucked a girl that she doesn’t like. Chicks are touchy like that,” Frank told his friend through the phone, exasperated by Bob’s lack of knowledge about women.

“Yeah. I guess I should apologize for not telling her--”

“Apologize? What? No! Do you ever listen to me?”

“Well…”

“You can’t apologize!”

“Why not? I was wrong, and--”

“No! You were not wrong, you were getting some! And even if you were wrong, you don’t apologize!”

“Elaborate, please.”

“Okay, this chick thinks she’s got you wrapped around her finger--”

“She does. I love her.”

“Exactly. You have to show her who’s boss; show her who wears the fucking pants in your relationship!”

“I don’t think she’d like that, Frank…”

“It’s the things that people don’t like that teach them lessons, my friend.”

“But I don’t want to teach her a lesson, Frank! I love her, and I’m marrying her so that we can live together and respect each other. I’m not marrying her to keep her in check.”

“Well, that just means that you’re getting married for the wrong reasons.”

Bob laughed at his friend’s strange logic, and the irony of the situation. Frank was telling Bob that he was getting married for the wrong reasons?

Frank just sighed. “Who is this girl that she’s so mad about, anyway?”

Bob rubbed his temples with his fingers and sighed. “A girl I used to be friends with. We had sex a really long time ago, before I left and went back to Chicago. It was a one-time thing, and--”

“Yeah, yeah, you regret it, it was a mistake, blah-blah-blah. What’s she look like? Is she hot?”

“Well…” Bob hesitated. Sure, he knew that Margot was attractive, but would it be undermining his relationship with Penelope to tell Frank so? “Well…Yeah. She’s tall, thin, blonde, and very pretty.”

“Damn, Bryar! Why do you get all the hot girls?”

“I guess it’s just my masculine charm.”

“Yeah, and I get ‘em all because of my incredible height and bulging muscles.”

Bob was going to tell Frank that he was a smartass, but he didn’t get a chance to; Penelope walked back into the house. “I gotta go. Call you later. Bye,” he said, hanging up.

“Hey,” Penelope said, sitting on the couch next to Bob. “Who was that?”

“Frank,” Bob told her.

“Oh, I wish you would have let me talk to him,” she frowned for a moment.

“I’m sorry. You can call him later to chat, though. Anyway, how was your walk?”

“Good,” she said, nodding and looking away. “I went to the park a few blocks away. It was nice. The little kids on the playground were so cute.” Pen smiled, remember the little blonde girl who had smiled and waved at her after she’d gotten off the phone with Mikey.

“I didn’t know you liked kids, Penelope.”

“I love kids. I’ve wanted kids ever since I was a little girl,” Pen said, then wanted to clamp her hand over her mouth. Way to freak him out, she thought to herself. Just start up a conversation about kids when they weren’t even married yet.

But, to Pen’s relief, Bob just nodded and said, “Yeah. It would be pretty cool to be a parent.”

When he said that, Pen remember why she loved him so much. Unlike most guys his age, Bob was mature, and ready to settle down and have children, to be a real family. It made her heart glow and she smiled even wider. “It would be.”

“Maybe sometime soon we could find out what it’s like,” Bob said, slipping his arm around his fiancée’s shoulders.

Dude, I am so tired. Literally: exhausted. I've been at school until 10 or later all week working on the musical (PERSONALS: A Comedy Review), and everyone working on it got excused from school all day. That's right: Be Jealous. So I'm at home, and I figured that, instead of catching up on some much-needed sleep, I'd update. I'm awesome, right? I know. Okay. Well, I'm gonna go sleep...NOW. Okay. Comment. OverAndOutxx
