meh, German is close enough to English that you can hash out the gist of the conversation anyway. so no worries about the clunky translations.
nice update.Quantum Magic

I just hope you don't plan on doing many of the foreign language passages. I just skip over those and really never bother to read the translations at the bottom. I read these stories for relaxation, and the last thing i want is hasselQuantum Magic

tbh the stupid German lines was very close to making me drop the entire story.

Awesome story :)
Even if it looks terrible to write the translation in the story, it would be less terrible than what you did.
I read a sentence, i must go down the page to find its meaning, then i must go up and find where i was, again and again... very difficult and unpleasant to read :'(
I think the better would be to only write in English, and let the other languages go.
Putting that away, great chapter, story, i love it so...
Continuuuuuuuuue,

Ok... the idea is one I like, so I'm reading the story even though the writing itself is less than stellar; but if you do the crap with translations again I think I'm gonna have to stop. Do what normal people do... italicize and mention that the conversation is in whatever language.Quantum Magic

I know a little german so I wasn't too bothered, but my sentiments are those of odinmage's: concept has me. Hope to see it developed well.Quantum Magic

I just saw your story and read what you have up so far. My congratulations, you've managed a distinctly different approach here and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes. I will admit that Harry seems more likely to be come a "Grey" practioner than a Light or Dark one.
Regarding the translations, I like the feel of the German at first but it gets a bit old. You might consider the same approach used in the movie version of "Hunt for Red October" where the Russian sub captain (played by Sean Connery) starts out speaking in Russian with subtitles and finishes speaking, apparently, in English. The equivalent would be a few sentences in German to frame things (with translations in parentheses) and then just the translations in English.Author's response
Mhm, I probably won't be doing full german translations anymore, just thought English would look silly in a native German market.Quantum Magic

I'm really enjoying the story line used but am another person who doesn't care for the extensive German portions. A line or two and then the rest in English would be easier, frankly and make reading the story flow better.
