"Do you want anything?" Melody asked as she came back into the living room. Her cheeks were rosy from the cold or the alcohol, and Sid couldn't help but notice how pretty and innocent she looked.

Melody drummed her fingers against the counter of Toni's, the italian resteraunt she waitressed at. It had been a long day, with a three hour lecture and then a double shift here. It'd been slow, with only a handful of families venturing out into the storm to grab a bite to eat. The resteraunt was empty now, the last couple shuffling out into the snow. She sighed and began closing the till, reorganizing the menus. If she started the close-up process early, she could leave on time for once and get home before the weather worsened. She thought about calling Sid for a ride, then thought better of it. They hadn't seen each other since she left his house three days ago, and Melody figured if he wanted to see her, he'd call. They didn't have a fight or anything, but there was definantly a tiny bit of tension that Melody couldn't help but feel she had put there with everything she had been thinking about their relationship lately.
"Hey gloomy guts, cheer up!" Melody turned to see Ami, a long-time friend and fellow waitress walking up to the counter with a drink in each hand and a bottle of Grey Goose vodka under her arm. She passed one to Melody as she hopped up onto the counter and crossed her legs. Ami was what most people called "free spirited"; She was barefoot now that the boss had left, the small lotus flower tattoos on each big toe bright pink and vibrant. Her blonde hair was dreaded, and pulled back into a ponytail. She had spilled coffee on Melody one day whilst rushing out of their highschool english class, and they had got to talking as they cleaned up the mess. Fast forward a few years and the girls were still going strong.
"Ami, I'm not drinking at work." Melody said as she attempted to hand the drink back.
"Look, its like, 10 minutes to closing, you're obviously stressed and theres definantly something bugging you, so you're going to drink that screw driver and tell Ami what the hell's the matter." Ami gave Melody a 'Dont try to bullshit me' look as she sipped her own drink. Melody sighed and closed the till, sitting down on a stool.
"There isn't anything wrong, really. I'm tired, thats all."
"And my name is Rumplestiltskin. Seriously, we've been friends for ages, right? Whats so bad you cant tell me, eh? What, you boil a puppy?" Melody laughed at Ami's attempt at humor.
"No no, no murder or boiling involved. However, I might end up killing myself if I cant get my head sorted." Ami waited for an explanation. Melody sighed once again and took a swig from her cup, feeling the burn as the alcohol slid into her stomach. "I think, myabe, I might've somehow managed to accidentally-" She took a deep breath "- fallinlovewithSid." She let out all her air at once, trying to get the sentance over with. Ami choked on what she had just drank.
"You WHAT?" She exclaimed. "What do you mean you've fallen for Sid? ITS SID! Sidney Wilson, a boy we've grown to know as a living definition of 'fuck today, gone tomorrow'. And now you are in LOVE WITH HIM?!"
"Calm down! I'm not saying I want to get married! And in his defense, he's gotten alot better lately. He dated Rochelle for 6 months, and then Lacey for 3!" Meldoy took the bottle of vodka and poured herself a second glass.
"Oh right, well then, call the boy Casa Nova, Romeo even!" Ami scoffed. "Seriously, Mel, you know I've thought all along something was going to happen between the two of you, but I thought it'd be a one off, fuck buddies at the most. This came on a little quick, don't you think?"
"No, Ami, I don't." Melody finished her drink and slammed the cup on to the counter. "I think we've been friends for a long time, and he knows me better then anybody, and he cares about my well being, and hes-"
"Walking into the resteraunt!" Ami hissed and spun Melody around. Sure enough, Sid was pulling the door open and hurrying inside, letting a flurry of snowflakes in with him. He looked up at the counter and waved, walking towards them. Melody cursed herself for not having tried harder in the looks department today, then cursed herself again for caring.
"Hey Ami." Sid said as he placed an arm around her and pulled her towards him in a half armed hug. "Drinking on the job?"
"Just trying to get little miss silent treatment to open up a little. She's barely said anything all night!" Melody kicked Ami under the counter. Sid walked around to stand behind Melody, placing his hands on her shoulders and starting to massage them.
"Yeah, shes definantly uptight about something." He said as his hands moved lower down her back. Melody leaned back towards his torso, then straightened up when Ami smirked at her.
"No I'm fine, really. I'm just tired and really not looking forward to trekking home in this fucking storm." Melody said as she put her hand over her glass, trying to stop Ami from refilling it. Ami gave her a dirty look and slid the glass from underneath her hand, filling it up and putting it back in front of her. "Seriously, I don't want any more, I don't want to be stumbling to the bus stop."
"Do you really think I'd show up at your work NOT to drive you home?" Sid asked, leaning over her to make eye contact. She shrugged, taking a big gulp of her drink. "Wow, something really must be fucking with your head. I'm not gonna leave you out in the snow, stupid."
"Oh, so now I'm stupid as well as uptight. Thanks, asshole." Melody jumped down off the stool, wobbling severely. Sid grabbed her around the waist and held her up, laughing.
"I'm not trying to insult you, Mel. Fuck, I never knew you were an angry drunk!" He teased. She was standing on her own now, but he didn't remove his arm from around her middle.
"She's had two and a half tallboys of Vodka and orange juice. Actually," Ami giggled "That last one was pretty much all vodka. Oops." She grinned sheepishly at Melody, who scowled.
"I'm not drunk! I'm just, spastic. Watch." She grabbed her drink and downed the rest of it without even a blink. "Bet you couldn't do that!" Ami laughed.
"Wanna bet?" Ami followed suit, slugging back the entire contents of her cup. Sid groaned.
"One drunk girl I can handle. Two is another story." He said, sliding the other arm around Melody's waist. Was this normal behaviour for him? she thought to herself. Or was this something new? The vodka was making her head fuzzy.
"I'm not drunk!" She managed to get out without slurring. "Buzzed, maybe. But not drunk."
"Oh yes you are." Sid laughed. Melody tried to pull away from him, but he held fast. "And you can't walk, so stop trying."
"I'm not drunk!" She exclaimed. Ami poured another double shot for each of them.
"Ami-" Sid warned, but it was too late. the both shot them back like they were water. Sid sighed. "Really? You're going to get her tanked so I can take her home?"
"Y-you don't have to take me a-a-anywhere!" Melody huffed. "I'll get home j-just fine on my own." She pushed back hard on Sid's stomach. He inhaled sharply and let go of her just enough that she could try and walk towards the door. She didn't make it very far before he caught up to her and threw her over his shoulder. She giggled. "Heeeeeey!"
"Ami, do you need a ride too?" Sid asked as Melody playfully smacked his back.
"Nope, Patrick's coming to pick me up. I'll be fine."
"Alright. Well, in that case, I'm taking her home. I'll get her to call you in the morning."
"Have fun!" Ami called as they walked out the door. Melody lifted her head up in time to see Ami wink at her and thrust into the air. Melody blushed, thankful Sid hadn't seen anything. when they reached his car, he set her down gently on her feet, keeping one arm in front of her and bracing her against the car as he unlocked the doors. Once the passeneger side was open, he let her climb in. He shut her door and walked towards the drivers side as she clipped her seatbelt into place. Once the car was started he turned the headlights on and slowly made his way out of the parking lot.
"I'm s-sorry." Melody said, leaning her head against the window.
"For what?" Sid asked, glancing at her before returning his gaze to the horrendus roads.
"For being drunk."
"Don't worry about it." Sid chuckled. "God knows you've driven me home in worse condition." Melody smiled as she thought back to all the times she had driven him home while he was puking out the passenger window, then putting him to bed with water and asprin. "Now, my house or your house?"
"Mine! I miss my bed. I love my bed. And I have coffee. You never have coffee. Why don't you drink coffee?" Melody continued a steady stream of one sided conversation all the way to her apartment. Sid parked and walked to her side of the car.
"Do you need help getting upstairs?" He asked. She grinned sheepishly and nodded. He laughed and held out his hand. They walked together all the way into the lobby. He waited while she dug for her keys and unlocked the door.
"You're gonna come with me, right?" Melody asked, then blushed when she realized how it sounded. Sid smiled and shook his head at her.
"Yes Mel, I'll come upstairs with you." He promised. She grinned again. they waited in silence for the elevator. When it arrived they got on and Sid pushed the button for the 13th floor. Melody's building was one of the only ones with a labelled 13th floor, because most people felt they were unlucky and just skipped right from 12 to 14. They walked down the hallway and she fumbled with her keys again, finally sliding the right one into the lock. They stepped inside and slid off all their winter coats, layers, and boots. Melody stepped into the kitchen as Sid sat down on the living room couch. Her apartment was much nicer then his house. Fully furnished with the latest from Ikea, artwork on the walls, an actual decor. Plus, it had heating. This was a major plus in Iowa.
"Do you want anything?" Melody asked as she came back into the living room. Her cheeks were rosy from the cold or the alcohol, and Sid couldn't help but notice how pretty and innocent she looked.
"No, I'm good." They vegged out in front of the television for awhile, neither one of them really paying attention to what was on screen. About half an hour later, Sid looked over to see Melody dozing off. He chuckled and brushed the hair out of her face. Her eyes opened slightlyand she smiled at him before dropping back off to sleep. He clicked off the T.V. and gently lifted Mel into a sitting position. Her eyes opened a crack again.
"Whuzzgoinon?" she mumbled.
"C'mon, you have to change and go to bed, okay?" Sid whispered. Melody nodded and stood up, Sid still supporting her slightly. They walked single file down the hallway, his hands on her shoulders. She flipped on the light to her room and flopped down on her bed. "Mel, come on, change and then you can sleep." Sid coaxed.
"But I just want to sleep. I dont care if I sleep in jeans." Melody whined.
"You will in the morning. Here-" he picked up a crumpled tshirt and a pair of pajama shorts, obviously what she had worn last night, from the floor "- put these on and I'll leave you alone, okay?" Melody pulled off her shirt and slipped the one he had given her over her head. His heart started a little when he realized it was one of his shirts. He loved it when a girl slept in his clothing.
"Donlook. I'm taking off my pants." Melody hiccuped. He laughed and turned around. When he heard her stop moving he turned around to see her curled up in the fetal position at the edge of the bed. He smiled and walked over to her, sitting beisde her small frame. she looked up at him as he laid a hand on her side.
"You get into bed properly, and then I'll go home, okay?"
"Stay with me?" she asked. "I hate sleeping alone and your house is too cold for you to sleep in tonight." He looked down at her, took in the look of pure concern in her eyes.
"Sure, Mel, I'll stay here. But get under the covers and everything, okay? I'll be right back." He walked into the bathroom attached to her room and shut the door. Melody scooted up the bed and under the covers, her heart racing. It didn't slow down when he emerged wearing nothing but his boxers. He walked over to the bed and climbed in beside her, pulling the blankets up over the both of them. She laid there still for a moment, contemplating. She could make a move, blame the alcohol in the morning. But what if he said yes? It got even harder to try and think logically when he started to spoon her. She could feel her ass restng against his package. Why didn't this ever bother her before? they always slept like this, but she had never felt so turned on.
"Sid?" She rolled over and looked him in the eyes.
"Yeah?"
"I want you."
