Chapter Fourteen
7 reviews“Mikey!” Frank yells, climbing on top of me and holding me down again, and placing one hand on my neck, forcing me to look at him, “Snap out of it. Calm down.”

I feel sick.
I feel like I’m going to puke and I won’t even need to do it myself, this time.
I don’t want to open my eyes because I can feel the sunlight threatening to blind me even through my eyelids. But that isn’t the only thing I feel. I squirm a little and happily cuddle up closer into the arms around me. Frank’s arms. His arms are so comfortable. I could stay like this forever…and, now I can.
“Frankie?” I whisper, with a croak. I still don’t want to open my eyes.
“Mikey!” Frank cries, hurting my ears, “You’re awake!”
I open my eyes and straight away the sunlight shines right in my eyes. Groaning, I turn around and bury my face in Frank’s chest, “Yes. Why wouldn’t I be? Did it work?”
Frank kisses the top of my head and tugs on my arms, hinting for me to stand up. I do as he silently commands and the moment I’m standing, I wrap my arms around his waist and take us both into the shade where the sun can’t touch us.
Frank hugs me back, and sighs, “I don’t know…I didn’t know what was going to happen. It was a scary night. But, yes, it worked, and thank god too. I can tell because of your eyes.”
“Wicked.” I breathe, smiling, “But it took all night?” I ask, looking at him.
“Yeah.” he nods, “I-I kinda freaked out halfway through. I thought I’d hurt you. For a moment, I t-thought you were…” Frank shakes his head, “But you‘re not and I‘m so fucking happy right now.”
I just smile at him and kiss his forehead just because I can.
“So, how are you feeling?” he asks.
How am I feeling? Excellent question.
To be honest, I feel rather strange. Like, something’s missing. It’s not bad or anything, but something is just missing, “I feel weird.” I whisper.
“You alright?” Frank asks me with concern.
“Yeah,” I reassure him, “But something’s different.”
“You’re a vampire, Mikey. Of course, it’s going to feel different.” he explains, stroking the side of my face, “You aren’t human anymore. Technically, you’re dead, but let’s just go with immortal.”
“That’s it.” I breath with realization. I place my hand over my chest and feel no slight vibration from what should be my heart beat. I am dead. It feels so weird, “My heart isn’t beating.”
“Nope.” Frank shakes his head, “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine…It’s just weird. I’m sure I’ll get used to it, though.” I say before scrunching up my nose a little at just how strange and new it feels.
Frank stares at me for a moment, catching my odd face pulling, and tilts his head before he bursts out laughing, “Oh, that’s cute.”
“Shut up.” I smirk, blushing, “I do have one question, however. We’re vampires. Aren’t we meant to be perishing in the sunlight?”
“No. That’s just what you see in horror movies. Honestly, Mikey, how many of those do you watch?” Frank giggles, “No, but we don’t die in the sun. Our eyes just change. Grey with tinges of red. Though, we are stronger when the sun goes down, but we won‘t die.”
“Huh,” I say to myself, “That’s different.”
“That it is.” Frank says before randomly poking me in the stomach and making me laugh. I can be extremely ticklish sometimes.
“Nice teeth, Mikey.” Frank says, gesturing towards my smiling mouth.
I use my hands to feel the teeth Frank just pointed out. No, not teeth. Fangs. I run my fingers over them. They’re long and smooth and extremely sharp. I gasp in surprise a little. These are going to take some getting used to, for sure.
Frank laughs at me again, “Cool, aren’t they?”
I nod enthusiastically, grinning my ass off.
“You’ll learn to control them and hide them when you need to.” he tells me.
“This is so cool.” I breathe.
“Well,” Frank chuckles, “Let’s see how fast you can run, baby.”
My enthusiasm is taking over me completely. Without hesitation, I race through the trees as fast as I can go. The wind rushes past my face faster than it ever has before. My legs feel like they’re floating and I feel brilliant. I stop after a few seconds and realize just how far away I’m standing from Frank. He looks like he’s miles away.
“Woah.” I breathe to myself.
I race back to Frank even faster and get there in, what feels like, two seconds. Frank’s giggling at my fascination with my new self, but I can’t help it. It’s unbelievably amazing.
Frank walks over to me and snakes his arms around my lower waist, “Happy?”
“Not quite.” I smirk.
“No?” he asks, with a raise of his eyebrows.
“Nope.” I giggle, placing my hands on the back of his neck, and almost pressing my lips against his, “See, I wanna find out how good vampires are at kissing.”
“I think we can do that.” Frank replies before closing the gap between us.
We kiss softly, at first. Gently. But my eagerness suddenly can’t wait any longer and, after a few moments, I start kissing him with more force. He doesn’t seem to mind at all. I feel his tongue poke my lips and immediately meet him halfway. I sigh quietly and involuntarily when I feel his tongue against mine as we both battle for dominance. He soon takes over, though, as he starts pushing on me and I take the hint. I wrap my arms around him and pull him on top of me as we both fall to the ground. We don’t stop to laugh because, fuck, I know I can’t get enough of the taste of him. Even the feeling of the uncomfortable forest floor isn’t enough to distract me. Frank moans into my mouth and grinds his hips against mine which causes me to moan and buck my hips up in response. It turns me on even more to feel that he’s getting just as hard as me.
“Mmm,” I moan as Frank moves his lips from my mouth to my neck and my jaw.
I feel his hands move down and tug at the hem of my shirt. Not even thinking, I let him remove it and before I continue kissing his sweet lips, my eyes flash open in panic.
“No!” I cry sitting up and covering my stomach by wrapping my arms around myself.
Frank pulls back from me looking confused and almost hurt, “What’s wrong?”
Blushing furiously, I stutter, “I-I don’t want you t-to see the s-scars again.”
“Mikey,” Frank whispers, leaning close to me, “Move your arms. Look.”
I lock eyes with him and I see so much love in his gaze. I’d always thought his eyes were gorgeous. Even before I fell in love with him. I soon lower my eyes slowly and stare down at my stomach, removing my arms. My eyes grow wide and a small gasp escapes my lips as I look down.
All my scars are gone.
Jaw dropped, I return to lock eyes with Frank, “H-How?”
Frank shrugs, “Vampire thing, I guess. But even if they were still there, I wouldn’t care, Mikey.”
“I would.” I mutter, looking down again still not believing my eyes. My stomach hasn’t been free of scars for too long, “It’s hideous.”
“You were never hideous for a second.” Frank says and kisses me, “I love you.”
“But-”
“Stop it, Mikey.” he cuts me off, “You’re beautiful,” he kisses me again, “And gorgeous,” he kisses my neck, “And so fucking sexy.”
He starts kissing my neck in a way that distracts me from any further protesting. I lean on my elbows and let my head fall back as Frank leaves trails of kisses all over my chest. My jeans get even tighter and my breath hitches when he starts kissing the skin just above my belt.
“F-Frank…” I whine.
“Mmm?” he hums, lips still attached to my skin.
“Don’t stop.”
Frank starts fiddling with my belt buckle when my eyes roll back into my head and I snap upright.
Something. Smells. Good.
“Mikey?” Frank asks, frowning.
My eyes start darting all over the place, trying to figure out what that mouth watering aroma is coming from. I catch Frank‘s eye. He looks back at me, almost studying me, and then suddenly acts worried.
“Mikey, hey, snap out of it.”
My head snaps in the direction of the mouth watering smell. I go to jump up and run to whatever it is that smells so good, but Frank suddenly crashes on top of me. He straddles me and uses his hands to hold my shoulders down as I squirm to get out of his grip.
“Mikey, stop it!” he hisses.
I ignore him. Slightly losing control of myself, I grab his shoulders and throw him off me. Like a cat, he lands on his feet and stares at me, a little shocked. I don’t take the time to care. In a flash, I run faster than I did before towards the intoxicating aroma enriching the breeze.
“Mikey, stop!” I hear Frank yell, “Get a hold of yourself!”
I keep blocking him out, focusing only on this sudden instinct I’ve gotten. Then I see him. I feel my fangs grow longer from desire and I lick my lips, staring at the man walking through the forest. I just want to taste him. My mouth waters so much, I can hardly believe it. I prepare to launch at him because I just can’t fucking help myself. I’m seconds off my attack when I feel Frank crash into the side of me, sending us both smashing to the ground.
“Mikey!” Frank yells, climbing on top of me and holding me down again, and placing one hand on my neck, forcing me to look at him, “Snap out of it. Calm down.”
I groan under his hand and struggle to chase the man that is now walking further and further away, but Frank’s grip is even firmer this time.
“No.” he says, “Look at me.”
I do. I look at him directly in the eye.
“Snap out of it. Block it out.”
I squeeze my eyes shut and concentrate solely on ignoring the scent of the man, but it’s so fucking hard, “C-Can’t…”
“Yes, you can.” he tells me.
A growl escapes my throat and I start thrashing my head against the ground, trying to get rid of this new temptation erupting inside of me. I feel Frank’s lips against my ear as he mumbles, “Block it out. Don’t give in.”
I close my eyes and swallow loudly. Taking deep breaths, I try to control the rage possessing my body. Soon enough, the scent fades away and my breathing returns to normal. Without really explaining how I can do it, I force my fangs back into my gums and I open my eyes.
“Are you okay?” Frank asks, still holding me down.
Sighing, I nod my head.
“I-I don’t even know…Just wanted to a-attack him.” I pant out.
“It’s okay, Mikey.” Frank says, tucking a strand of loose hair behind my ear, “I should’ve known it’d be hard for you. You only just became a vampire. Of course, you’re gonna want to rip someone to shreds.”
“Eugh,” I cringe, “Now that the smell is gone, I totally don’t want to do that.”
“I know.” Frank giggles, smiling, “But you fought it off. That took strength. I’m proud of you.”
“Thanks.” I breathe at him, grinning, “Do you reckon I can get up now?”
“Oh! Sorry…”
Frank lifts himself off me and stands up. Taking the hand he offers, I get myself up as well. It isn’t until Frank starts brushing at my bare chest that I notice all the dirt and mud that has been smeared all over me from Frank and I fooling around to him tackling me so I wouldn’t attack that guy. I smile, shyly, a little embarrassed of the mess on me. Once I’m clean, I take a look around the forest for the first time in proper light.
“Wait a second…” I say, “I know this place.”
“You do?” Frank asks.
“Yeah.” I say, looking around and studying the area, just to be sure, “This is the forest me and Gerard used to come and hang out when we were got epic bored.”
“Seriously?”
“Yes!” I cry, smiling, “This is brilliant. All we have to do is go to my house and Gerard and I can see…Well, I mean, I can see him.” I feel my mood deflated, a little.
“You alright?” Frank asks, slipping an arm around my waist.
“Yeah…Can I go see him now?”
“Yeah,” Frank nods, “If you’re up for it, but are you sure you don’t want to get used to your new self first?”
“I’m sure, Frank.” I tell him, urgently, “I need to see him. Please.”
“Okay.” Frank says, “Okay, let’s go.”
I smile at him gratefully before kissing him gently. I take his hand in mine and we both run around the area, looking, until my eyes fall upon the back of my house. Eagerly, I rush forward, pulling Frank with me and I climb up a tree close to Gerard’s bedroom window. We used to sneak out sometimes on this tree.
I walk carefully to the end of a branch and gaze in. Gerard is sleeping in his bed. I look at the time on his clock. It’s 10am. Back at the clinic, everyone would have woken up by now, and they’ve probably figured out that Frank and I escaped. Not to mention the corpse of the security guard we just left there. Shuddering, I try to shake the image from my mind.
Without warning, I see my mother burst into Gerard’s bedroom door, and Frank quickly pulls me back so we’re both out of sight.
However, this doesn’t stop me from listening to the conversation going on inside those walls…
