2Ambiance
“Gerard, you lazy motherfucker! Get the fuck up!”
I watch through the window, cringing at my father’s aggressive voice.
“Gerard!” he yells again, “For fuck sake, wake up!”
Shit, shit, shit!
Calm down, Mikes. He’ll leave eventually.
It’s not my dad I’m worried about!
“Gerard, you’d better fucking wake up now or I swear to god…” My father growls before grabbing the collar of Gerard’s shirt roughly. “Wake up! The house isn’t going to fucking clean itself!”
My father shoves Gerard around a little before my stomach drops and his fist collides right into my brothers face.
“You bastar-!” I yell, moving forward to give him a piece of my mind, but Frank claps his hand over my mouth.
“Wait for him to leave. Don’t blow our cover now,” he whispers into my ear.
I growl in response because of how fucking angry I am. With narrowed eyes, I watch my dad yell and rant at Gerard before he lets go of his shirt and gives up.
“You were always fucking useless, anyway,” he spits, and slams the door as he walks out of the room.
I waste no time and jump right back into his room with Frank right behind me.
“Gerard,” I whisper, kneeling next to his bed, “Please. You need to wake up.”
“H-Has your dad always, like, acted like…that?” Frank whispers, kneeling beside me and slipping an arm around my waist.
“No,” I whimper, “But if he’s been doing shit like the to Gerard all this time…I swear to god, I’ll fucking kill him.”
“Mmph…” Gerard groans, turning his head over slowly.
“Gee! Hey, wake up.” I say, brushing some of his hair out of his face.
“I’m up…I’m up…” he mumbles, not opening his eyes.
“Hey, Gerard, look at me, okay?” I say and wait for him to obey me, “Are you alright?”
He scrunches his face up and groans quietly as he slowly sits up and rubs his head. Suddenly, he stares at Frank and I with wide eyes, “Fuck…I wasn’t dreaming was I?”
“No.” I whisper, shaking my head.
“W-….What the fuck?!” Gerard cries.
“Shh!” I hiss, covering his mouth, “Mom and dad are gonna hear you!”
He pushes me hand away, “I don’t care! W-What the fuck happened to you?!”
“Mikey,” Frank cuts in, “It’s not working. Let’s go.”
“You too!” Gerard shrieks, pointing an accusing finger towards Frank, “What the fuck?!”
“Gerard?” I hear my mother calling, “What’s going on?”
“Shit!” I hiss as I hear her footsteps now approaching Gerard’s room, “Frank, keep the window open.”
What are you planning, Mikey?
We’ve gotta get Gerard out of here with us so he can take it all in without bringing my parents in too.
…You sure that’s gonna work?
I fucking hope so.
As Frank opens the window, I turn to my brother, “Sorry about this, Gee.”
“Huh?” Gerard whimpers, not knowing what I’m talking about.
I don’t bother explaining before I grab my brother and pick him up, bridal style. He lets out a surprised yelp and looks at me with scared eyes. I can only stare back with apologetic ones before I race out the window, taking Gerard with me. When I land on the ground, Gerard starts yelling at me, asking what I’m doing and begging me to put him down. I block him out, though, and wait for Frank to close the window again. Once he’s down with my brother and I, we both run as fast as we can.
“Gerard, close your eyes,” I tell him, “You’ll probably get dizzy.”
“I’ll be fine when you fucking put me down!” He yells at me.
Ignoring him I continue to run until we stop in the middle of the large forest.
“Let me go!” Gerard yells again.
Since I’m sick of hearing his complaining, I do what he tells me to. Except, I don’t do it gently. I let him drop to the ground, rolling my eyes at his whining when he hits the floor.
“What was the fucking point of this, exactly?!” Gerard asks as he stands up.
“To make you listen,” I tell him, “Gerard, I’m serious. Right now, I really need you to listen to me, got it?”
My brother just stares at me, dumbfounded, and nods his head in response.
“Good,” I say, “Now, I know you don’t want to believe what you saw, but it’s real, okay?”
“B-But…” Gerard stutters.
“I know! This stuff isn’t supposed to exist, but it does. I freaked out when Frank told me too.”
Gerard’s eyes drift over to Frank who’s standing a few feet away, smirking down at my brother. He flashes his fangs in a quick smile, and Gerard visibly shudders.
“Relax, dude,” Frank smirks, “I don’t bite.”
I roll my eyes, as he chuckles at his own lame joke, “Look, Gerard, it’s all real, okay? This isn’t a dream or a hallucination. Do you believe me now?”
Gerard’s hands start shaking, “I-I…Y-Yeah, okay…T-Tell me everything and I’ll t-try to believe you…”
“Oh, thank god.” I breathe, smiling slightly.
“B-But, how, Mikey? H-How the fuck?! I need some fucking answers here.”
“I know,” I tell him, “I don’t really know how the whole vampire thing started, but all I know is Frank got bitten, and then he bit me.”
“What?!” Gerard gasps in a furious voice, “H-He what?!”
“It wasn’t on purpose!” Frank whines, trying to save himself from Gerard’s glare.
“Technically, it was, Frank.” I point out.
“Well, when you say it like that, it sounds bad!” Frank pouts at me.
“True,” I smirk, “Okay, Gerard. It was on purpose, but he didn’t attack me. I asked him to do it. I wanted to be a vampire.”
“Hold up! What?!” Gerard cries, “Mikey!”
“I don’t think he’s gonna calm down, Mikes.” Frank mutters.
“No, I’m not going to calm down!” My brother yells at my boyfriend, “Mikey, what the fuck?! You barely even know this vamp…guy. A-And you fucking busted out with him?! I told you I was going to get you out myself!”
“It was never going fucking happen, Gerard!” He falls silent at my sudden yelling, “No one was going to get me out. I know I wasn’t in there for long, but it was horrible, okay? So, Frank isn’t just some guy. He’s my…I-I mean, he’s…really fucking important to me.”
Gerard doesn’t seem to notice my stuttering when I nearly blurted out what Frank and my relationship is really like, “How can he be, Mikes?! You’ve known him, what, a month? He freaked the shit out of you, at first! Remember?”
“Yeah, I remember. But that was before I listened to him. When I did that, I was able to really believe him. Everything made a whole lot more sense.”
“I’m listening, Mikey, but believing is a whole other story.” Gerard whispers to me.
“What?!” Frank exclaims, stepping forward and standing next to me, “You just said before that you believed him!”
“I know, okay?!” Gerard breathes, brushing his hand through his hair, “But, fuck, I mean, vampires? Seriously? For all I know, those fangs are fake. Mikey, have you lost your mind?”
I gasp quietly, hurt at his question, “No…” I whisper, staring at the ground, “Can you just trust me? Please?”
Frank comes behind me and wraps his arms around my waist, to which Gerard raises an eyebrow, “If your brother,” Frank snarls, “Won’t give you a chance, we can always leave now.”
“L-Leave?” Gerard’s face drops, “…What?”
“We have to, Gee,” I whimper, “Where are we supposed to stay?”
“It’s unavoidable,” Frank adds, “Everyone is looking for us.”
“I-I just wanted to still see you, somehow. I wasn’t…and I’m still not ready to let you go.” My voice cracks and tears threaten to fall. Frank’s grip on me tightens.
“Mikes…” Gerard whispers, “Y-You don’t have to.”
“Yes, I do,” I explain, “I can’t stay here. Frank and I have to go…But, before we do, can’t you just believe me?”
Gerard steps forward and holds out his hand to me. I take it as he pulls me into a tight hug, “I believe you, Mikes…But, please don’t leave. I-I can’t lose you. Not again…Not for good.”
I let tears fall, as I bury my face into his shoulder, “Gee, what other option is there?”
“I have an idea, if you’re up for it.” Frank suddenly announces.
Gerard and I pull away from each to stare at him with the same curious look.
“Up for what?” Gerard asks.
Frank only smirks, and as I read his mind, my stomach drops at the idea he has in his head.
