Part Twenty-Eight

Patrick's POV

After a fairly long drive to the doctors, we were finally sitting in the waiting room. Kel looked through some of the old magazines sitting on the table and giggled every time she'd read something ridiculous about Pete or the band. I just sat there  quietly next to her, my hands meshed together tightly.
"You're getting all anxious again. I can see it." she said, looking down at my hands and back to my eyes. "I don't know what's so nerve wracking about this part. It's nothing more than just seeing the baby. It's not like its going to pop out any second." she laughed.
"I think I'm more excited than nervous right now. We've been sitting here for what feels like forev-"
I was interrupted mid-sentence by a nurse with a clipboard. "Keliah Stump?"
"That's us." Kel said, standing up and taking my hand as we followed the nurse down the hall into a small blueish colored room.
"So, you're in here for an ultrasound, huh?" the nurse said, looking down at her clipboard. "Congratulations on the baby."
"Thank you. We're pretty excited." Kel replied nicely, giving the woman a smile.
"I can imagine so. If you'll just get up onto this chair here-"
"No problem." Kel quickly sat down on the chair and the nurse adjusted it so she was laying down.
"The doctor should be in here soon, so just sit tight and it won't be long."
With that, the nurse smiled again and left the room. And once more we waited, left in the blueish gray room alone. I didn't realize it, but I still had my hand placed firmly in Kel's.
"Relax, sweetie." she said calmly.
"Sorry." I replied, easing up my grip on her hand.
"There's nothing to be worried about now. We can worry about our parenting skills when the baby comes. Right now, we're just going to figure out what gender our child will be so we know what to name it."
"You're right. I can chill. This is exciting. I shouldn't be nervous."
"Right." she replied confidently.
I smiled at her and she squeezed my hand. At that moment, a fairly tall woman in a doctor's coat with blonde hair pulled back tightly in a ponytail entered the room.
"Hi! You must be Mr. And Mrs. Stump. I'm Dr. Bennie."
"Nice to meet you." we both replied.
"So, everything's been normal so far with the pregnancy, right?" she asked, looking through her clipboard.
"Yep. Nothing unusual." Kel answered calmly.
"Well, then, let's get started then, shall we?" she smiled and started up the ultrasound machine. She lifted up Kel's shirt, exposing her baby bump.
"This may be kinda cold. I apologize in advance." she joked.
Dr. Bennie squeezed out this weird paste looking stuff onto her stomach and Kel winced a bit, making me hold her hand tighter. "Yep, that's cold alright." Kel replied with a slight smile. While the doctor was running the scanner over her stomach, she turned to me. "So, tell me, what gender do you want it to be?"
"I'm perfectly content with either one. I suppose I'm leaning more towards a boy, but, it doesn't really matter to me."
"I think you're the first father-to-be that's come in today that wasn't completely set on having a boy."
Kel smiled at her comment. "We've both been kinda up in the air about it. I don't think it'll matter whether it's a boy or a girl."
The doctor nodded and we all looked intently on the screen as the doctor ran the scanner over her stomach some more. "Ah, there it is...well...that's...."
I seen the outline of something on the screen, but panicked when the doctor paused. "What? What is it?"
"No, no, it's nothing bad, Mr. Stump, I promise. But...from the looks of it..."
I watched the screen as she moved the scanner over a little bit. Suddenly the outline became much more clear as Kel and I looked at each other wide-eyed.
"I do believe, Mr. And Mrs. Stump...you're going to be having-"
"Twins." we both said unanimously. I stared at the screen, watching the two little figures on the screen move around a little. There was silence for a second. Kel turned back to me and smiled the biggest smile I'd seen. "Patrick, we're going to have TWINS!!" I nodded, still speechless, but I soon found my tongue again.
"Uh, doctor, is it possible to tell what gender they'll be?"
"According to what we see at the moment, it looks like a boy and a girl. Sometimes it gets misread, but at this stage, its pretty much obvious." She moved the scanner a bit more and got a better view of them.
"Oh my god..." I whispered, watching the screen in awe. "Those are our kids. And they're TWINS, oh my god..."
Kel squeezed my hand again. "Oh, just wait until we tell everybody else about this."
"Ha, they're gonna freak." I said half-laughing, wiping a quick tear from my eye.
"Congratulations! You're probably the first couple I've seen in awhile that hasn't gone psycho over the twin thing. You're surprisingly calm about it. It's very refreshing."
We both watched the screen for what seemed like ages, watching their little bodies wiggle around. Dr. Bennie pulled out the clipboard again and started asking questions. "So, any diseases that run through your family lines?"
"Not that I know of." Kel replied.
"Me neither." I shrugged.
"And Mrs. Stump, have you been taking vitamins and all that good stuff?"
"Yes, ma'am." she said, grinning.
"Have the babies kicked yet at all?"
"I haven't felt any kicks yet, no."
"Alright. Well, being in the fourth month, you seem to be right on track. The baby should start kicking soon. Could be today, tomorrow, could be a week from now, at the latest, it'll take a month. If the kicking doesn't start, call me and we'll run some tests, make sure everything is ok."
"Okay."
"That about does it, I think." she said, closing the clipboard. "Do you have any questions or anything before you leave?"
"Do I have to change anything about what I'm doing now because I have two kids instead of one?"
"Technically, it's always been two, so if there's been no problems up to this point, then you should be perfectly fine." She smiled at us and stood up. "Well, Mr. and Mrs. Stump, congratulations again on the twins. At least you've got both now, one boy and one girl. Nobody gets disappointed that way!"
The doctor helped get the paste off her stomach and cleaned up everything. We both stood up, still hand in hand and followed her out of the room. She turned back to us as we got to the door. "Here, call me in about the 7th month, we'll do another check-up before the baby comes. See you soon, it was a pleasure meeting you both!" she said her goodbyes and we walked out of the doctor's office.
----------------
We sat in that parking lot for quite awhile. Then the happiness sort of erupted. "KEL, WE'RE HAVING TWINS!!!!" I screamed, a grin spreading across my face.
"I KNOW!!" She screamed back, just as excited as I was. She even did a fist pump in the air like I do when I'm excited about stuff.
"Oh, god. Wait until we tell everyone, this is gonna be amazing."
"We'll have them all come over for lunch or something."
"Psh, I don't need to have a reason other than, 'OH MY GOD, MY WIFE IS HAVING TWINS!!!"
She laughed as we finally drove back home.
----------------
"Yeah. Wentz, just get over here. Bring Farrah too."
I was on the phone with Pete, trying to get everyone over here so we could tell them the big news.
"Pete, I don't care what the fuck is on TV right now. Just get your pretty boy ass over here, we have important stuff to tell you. Pete-....yes, Pete we'll feed you lunch. Just get over here, ok? Alright, see you in a bit, man."
I rolled my eyes as I hung up. Kel was sitting next to me on our couch eating jellybeans again. "Pete's being Pete again?"
"Yeah, that's about the only explanation I can give to that anymore."
"Ain't that the truth..."
I grinned and dialed Joe's number.
"Hey, Joe, you got anything going man? No? Good. Get over here, me and Kel have got some awesome news to tell you. Is Andy with you? Cool, bring him with you then. See you in a few. Bye."
I hung up the phone again and leaned back onto Kel's lap. She put down her box of jellybeans and stroked my hair. "You seem more exhausted now than you were all tour."
"The adrenaline rush is gone. Usually when I play, the energy that kicks in will keep me going for a few days. But, all this is worth it."
"Awww, you're so sweet." she joked.
"I try." I said smiling. I moved my face up to hers and we kissed. Slow and passionate. My tongue gently glided along her lips asking for entrance and she soon agreed. As we were kissing, I heard a car door slam in the driveway. I pulled away with reluctance. "Why did we invite them over again?" I joked, shaking my head in false anger.
Kel laughed and started to get up to get the door. "No, relax. I'll get it."
Kel put her hands up in surrender and sat back down, her hands instinctively going to her stomach. I got up off the couch as the doorbell rang to see Pete and Farrah standing in the doorway. "HEY BUDDY, LONG TIME NO SEE!" Pete said, jumping onto me.
"I missed you too, Pete. Good to see you man...just...get off me...please."
"Spoil sport." he said grinning, but he released his grip nonetheless.
"And Farrah, lovely as always I see."
"Not looking too bad yourself, Trick."
"Thank you." I said, gesturing for them to come inside and sit down. Our living room had way too many chairs and couches, so Pete and Farrah jut picked a couple of chairs across from us.
"So, what is this amazing news?" Pete asked. I sat down next to Kel and put my arm around her.
"Well, we went to the ultrasound and we figured out the gender of the baby." I was very careful in my wording. I knew if I said babies once then the whole surprise would be blown.
"Ah, so the mystery is revealed. Can we help name it?"
"We might need your help." Kel told him, nodding her head.
Another car door slammed outside and I figured it was Joe and Andy. Pete jumped up from his seat to answer it before I did, so I just stayed put.
"JOE, ANDY, GUYS! I missed you both so much!"
Pete did the same thing to them as he did to me earlier. "Jesus, Pete we missed you too. God, dude, get off me."
"Yeah, you're kinda suffocating us both."
Pete backed away, giggled and led them into the living room. They all took a seat, Pete in his chair, and Joe and Andy took the couch across from us as well.
"So, what's the big news, Trick?" Andy said, clapping his hands together.
"We went to the doctors and all that, to see how the baby was and what gender it was going to be."
Kel continued what I was saying. "But, we had a bit of a surprise ourselves when she told us what we had."
I smiled at her as I said the one word I've wanted to since they got here. "TWINS."
Farrah screamed in the corner. "Ohmygod, are you serious? You're having twins?"
Pete applauded. "YES, that makes two kids to mess with."
I looked at Pete warningly and he backed down. "I know, I know, not one word of nonsense to the kids when they come. I know the drill..."
Joe looked shocked. "Dude, that has to be painful to have two kids."
Kel laughed out loud. "It won't be painful until the delivery. It doesn't hurt now."
Andy punched Joe in the shoulder. "She's had twins the whole time, moron, she just didn't know it yet. So what gender are the twins?"
I smirked. "This is probably where we're going to need your help with names. It's a boy and a girl."
Farrah squealed again. "YAY!"
Kel all of a sudden put her hands to her stomach, seeming to be listening to something. I looked at her. "Is there something wrong?"
"No, wait just a sec..."
We all watched Kel in some confusion as she had a determined look on her face.
"Okay, guys, start talking again or something."
We all shrugged and started in on conversations. We were interrupted by Kel. "OHMYGOD, you guys, I think I felt them kick!"
I adjusted the hat on my head nervously and stuttered. "A-are you s-serious?"
"I think the baby hears us talking or something. It kicks when it hears all of you."
Farrah got up and squealed again. "I wanna-"
Kel held up a hand. "Farrah, dear, I love you, but I think Trick should have the honors."
"Oh, alright. I'll wait." she said, smiling, but folding her arms.
I leaned over, placing my hand on her stomach. I snapped over to the guys. "Hey, talk or something." they went back to their conversation and I concentrated on her stomach. I suddenly felt a light tap against her stomach, followed by another one.
I was speechless. "Oh....ohmy...."
Kel smiled as she watched my face. "That's phenomenal." I said, looking up at her.
I stared at her stomach in awe as I felt another kick. "Ohmygod, that is incredible."
I pulled my hand back from her and Farrah took my place.
"Oh, my goodness. Hello, two little babies!" she said, giggling.
Pete got up from his chair. "I wanna do it next!" he whined.
Joe and Andy shrugged and stood behind Pete in what was sort of a line. Pete put his hand to her stomach and said, "That. Is. So. FREAKING COOL."
Joe did the same thing as Pete did, raving about how awesome that was. Andy put his hand on there and he had almost the same reaction as me. "That is totally amazing. Incredible."
Kel laughed at almost all of them. "Yeah, imagine feeling that kicking inside your stomach. It really feels weird."
I smiled at her and she smiled back at me, her eyes sparkling with that motherly glow again.
"SO. Names." Pete started. "We'll write down the name we want on a piece of paper and then, we'll go through them all when we're finished. Maybe we'll get something useful out of this."
We all got a piece of paper and wrote down two names. All the paper was then gathered in the middle and I grabbed the pile, looking through the names.
"Okay, 'Sara and Jack.' Not bad." Joe smiled. Those were probably his names.
"Um, 'Janelle and Oliver.' I like the Janelle one..." Kel nodded and Andy grinned.
"Okay...Pete, what the hell."
He looked at me in mock surprise. "What?"
"Peterica and Pete Jr. Are you serious?"
"Alright, fine. Patrica and Ryder."
"Well...those are a bit better I suppose." I shrugged and reached for the next paper. "Okay, 'Lucy and George'. Not bad."
Kel reached for the next piece of paper and read off some of them.
"Let's see. There's Matilda and Maxwell...and last but not least, Lily and Lucas."
I looked around at everyone. "Well...that at least gives us some names to think about."
Kel looked at me confidently. "I know which ones I like."
"Which ones?"
"Maxwell and Lily."
I thought about it for a second. Both had a nice ring to them.
"Okay then. We'll name them Max and Lily."
Kel rubbed her hands proudly on her stomach. "Maxwell Vaughn Stump and Lily Ann Stump."
Pete nodded. "Those sound amazing. Good choice. Your son is gonna grow up to be a rockstar with that name, for sure." he winked. "That's a kick ass name."
Andy shrugged. "I like Lily's name better to be honest. It sounds pretty."
I put up my hands to stop the argument that was sure to happen. "They both sound fantastic. We'll leave it at that."
Farrah clapped her hands again. "I am SO EXCITED for you two!" Farrah was deemed godmother of the kids on the tour bus awhile ago when Pete started bragging about being godfather, trying to make himself sound like a mobster. Kel asked her before she got upset. She meant to ask her anyways, but hadn't gotten around to it yet, and it didn't help with the guys getting all overexcited about it. So, she was now honorary godmother. I'd trust her with those kids more than the guys...well...maybe just Pete, but I'd still trust her the most.
Pete got up from his chair. "Well, I was promised lunch. I dunno about anyone else, but I am totally raiding your fridge, guys."
I put a hand over my face as Pete wandered off to the kitchen. Kel giggled at my face and watched as every one followed Pete to the kitchen. "You ok there, hon?"
"Yeah, fine. Now all we have to do is wait for the kids to arrive."
"Well, hopefully, they'll be due in October or so. That's about four months from now."
I looked carefully at everyone in the kitchen, making sure they weren't breaking anything. Luckily they weren't, so I turned back to Kel. "I love you so much."
"I love you too sweetie." she said, planting a kiss on my lips. "Now, let's get out to the kitchen before they break something."
By the time we walked into the kitchen, sure enough, something to knocked over. That something happened to be the soda Pete had pulled out of the fridge. And the somebody that happened to do it was Joe.
"Aw, man, what the hell, dude." Pete said, looking at his spilt pop on the kitchen counter. "What'd you do that for?"
Joe held his hands up. "Hey, I didn't mean to do it. I simply walked over here for a water and my hand just went flying and it hit the can."
"Damnit...dude...sorry about this guys. I didn't INTEND on making a mess. I didn't expect that SOME PEOPLE were going to go all apeshit with their arms just to get a fucking water too." Pete grabbed some towels and started cleaning it up. I couldn't do anything except just laugh at him.
"Pete, you're such a whiny bitch sometimes." I said, pushing up my glasses.
Kel moved away from my side to go make herself a peanut butter and strawberry jelly sandwich while everyone sat around the kitchen table again. Pete grabbed another soda from the fridge and sat down. "Oh, did Farrah tell you the awesome news? She found a house down the street from here."
Farrah smiled. "Oh yeah, that's right. I get to move in...next week."
I nodded. "Was it that pink-ish house on the corner down there?"
"Yeah. It's big enough for at least 3 people, but I like my space, I suppose."
"I seen that house when I first moved in here. That place is pretty big. It's got like 4 bathrooms in it."
Joe laughed at me. "Yeah, this place has got like, a gazillion."
"It's only got 3. So, shut up." I said, smirking at his face. "So, you're gonna stay with Pete until you get all your stuff moved in there?"
She nodded. "Yep. His parents have been really nice about everything, they fixed up a room and everything for me. They actually looked kind of sad when I said I was moving out already."
As she said it, Joe and Andy both looked like their jaws clenched in annoyance. I'm sure they didn't like the idea of Farrah staying in Pete's house.
Pete nodded. "Ha, yeah. If I told them I was moving out they would probably jump for joy. And you tell them you're moving out after living there for like, a couple of days, and they already miss you. That's just...unfair."
"I can't help it if your parents like me better than you."
Kel finished making her sandwich and sat down next to me. I turned to Farrah.
"I wouldn't feel to bad about that. I told you, his parents love everyone. That includes charming girls that just need a place to stay for awhile, and their son's messy bandmates. His mom loves me, anyways." I smirked.
Pete sighed. "Don't remind me. I finally get into a successful band and it's all, 'Patrick has such a fabulous voice' not, 'My son has finally made something of himself'. Yeah. Thanks mom."
Kel giggled as she took a bite of her sandwich. She turned to Farrah. "Do you need any help moving in any of your stuff?"
"Nah, there's not a lot. I had to explain to our roommates back home that we moved to Chicago, so they asked a lot of questions, but they're sending all our other stuff to my house. So I can drop off a lot of your stuff when I move in."
Andy piped up. "We'll help you if you need it."
Joe nodded. "Yeah, I hardly have anything to do anymore. We'd both love to help."
"Well, I mean, there's probably a few things that I might need help with."
Pete's lips formed into a slight scowl over his teeth. "Well. This is was awesome, but I've actually got to go. I've got a meeting with Clandestine Industries about a new clothing line. Farrah, you wanna come with?"
"Sure, why not?"
"You can help me with some of the women's designs, if you want."
Farrah nodded excitedly and hugged Kel. "I guess I'm gonna go, then. Congratulations again on having twins! If you ever need anything girl, just call me. We'll have some retail therapy or something." she smiled and we watched as her and Pete walked out the door to his car.
I turned to Joe and Andy. "Still got it bad for her don't ya guys?"
Joe shot me a defensive look. "I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Yeah. Sure. Because those looks of disgust when Farrah said she was staying with Pete for another week were just reflex, right?"
Kel nodded. "He's right. Those glares were pretty obvious. I wasn't even looking half the time but I could hear the tension in your voices."
Andy shrugged. "I still like her. I'm not gonna deny it. I do."
Joe shook his head. "I'm definitely over her...I just don't like her being under Pete's roof. Can you imagine the kind of crap he probably pulls on her?"
I scrunched my face up in thought. "Nah, I don't think so. Not with his parents around. You know how they are."
"That may be true, but I dunno. Just seems weird to me."
"Well she'll only be there for another week and then she'll be out of there. So there's no reason to worry."
Andy nudged Joe on the shoulder. "Besides, Farrah can fend for herself. We both know that first hand, don't we?"
I laughed, thinking back to when Farrah had pushed Joe away on the bus after him and Pete had gotten into a fight. She was a strong-willed girl. She wasn't about to be pushed around by anybody. Even if it was the spectacular Pete Wentz.
Joe stood up and pushed his chair in. "You're probably right. Come on, Andy. Let's go down to the mall; they've got new video games in today."
"Awesome! Really happy for you guys and the babies. Call us soon."
"No problem, dude. See you later." I said, waving goodbye as they left as well.
Kel and I sat in the kitchen for awhile.
"So...Maxwell and Lily. Our new little bundles of joy." she said happily.
"I just hope to god they're as beautiful and intelligent as you."
"And I hope they're as talented and handsome as you."
She leaned her head on my shoulder and we sat there in silence.
