Emily woke up to a knocking sound; she sighed as she slid from her bed and walked down the stairs, slowly opening the door she gasped

“What are you doing here?”She asked, Frank looked at her

“Thought you could use a friend for today” he said, Emily smiled

“Gerard doesn’t think I will come” she said, Frank laughed

“Yeah, but I also want to see Zach” he said, Emily laughed as she let him in

“Fancy some breakfast?” she asked, Frank smiled

“How about I take you both out?” he asked, Emily smiled

“Sounds good, have a seat while I get dressed and get Zach up and dressed” she said, Frank smiled and sat down as Emily ran up stairs and got ready.

Emily walked down with Zach who was grinning a lot when he saw Frank

“Whoa, hello little Gerard” he said, Zach giggled


“I know he looked a lot like his father” she replied, Frank nodded as they both walked out, Frank helped Emily with her bags as Emily placed Zach in the car

“I know this great place that does the best pancakes” he said as he slid in the car and started it, Emily nodded as she slipped in, she smiled

“Sounds good Frank” she said softly.

They entered the cafe; Emily smiled when she saw Mikey sitting in a booth with Alicia

“Can we join you two?” asked Frank, Mikey saw Emily and Zach and nodded

“Of course” Alicia replied, Zach looked at Mikey and reached for him, Mikey grinned

“Hey baby boy” he said as he took Zach in his arms Emily laughed as she sat down,

“I’m Mikey, Uncle Mikey” he said, Zach grinned


“Mmiiky” he said which made everyone giggled, Zach frowned
“Mike” he said, Mikey nodded

“That’s right” he said, Zach looked up and giggled, Frank sat down

“I ordered some pancakes” he grinned, Emily smiled, what did he do she wondered

“Zach this is Uncle Frank” said Emily, Frank grinned as he looked down at Zach, Zach looked at Frank and touched his arm, looking at all the tattoo’s

“Frankie” he said softly, Frank nodded as a lady came up and placed the pancakes on table

“Oh my gosh Frank, Skittle pancakes” said Emily, Frank laughed

“Come let’s eat, then we can go shopping” he said, Zach wiggled to Emily as she helped his have some pancakes

“So Emily are you coming tonight?” asked Mikey, Emily sighed and nodded

“Your mum is going to kill me” she said, Mikey smiled

“Nah she won’t, she called me last night and told me about Zach and you, she seems fine to me” he said, Emily shrugged

“Gerard makes it quite clear that I must attend tonight” she said, Mikey frowned and nodded

“He really hurt you didn’t he?” asked Mikey, Emily nodded

“I have nothing to feel or say about Gerard” she said, Frank looked at Mikey and shook his head

“Come Emily, let’s go shopping” said Frank, Mikey frowned

“I will see you tonight Emily and Mr Zach, Uncle Mikey loves you very much” he said, Mikey saw Emily flinch as she picked up Zach

“You okay Emily?” he said, Emily nodded

“Love is an overrated thing” she snapped as she walked out of the cafe
Frank and Emily took Zach hands as they walked down the street and entered the mall

“How about we go to the toy shop?” asked Frank, Emily smiled as they made their way to inside the store, Zach and Frank played as Emily couldn’t help but laugh.

Frank looked at Emily as they drove to Gerard’s mum’s house; she looked so sad and barely spoke on the way there as he pulled up

Emily sighed as Franked opened the door, she walked in with Zach who was clinging on Emily, he was scared she noted, Donna smiled as she saw Emily holding a small child
“Hi Emily, you look beautiful, this must be Zach” she said, Zach looked up at the lady and then snuggled into his mother’s arms

“I’m sorry it’s been a long day and he is quite tired” said Emily, Donna smiled

“He is a little Gerard” she replied as she helped Emily through to the dining room, Gerard stopped talking to Mikey and looked up and saw his son for the first time
“Zach” he said softly, Zach looked up, his eyes on his father, Emily flinched

“Let’s go into the lounge room” said Gerard as he guided Emily into the lounge room
“Zach, this is daddy” said Emily as kissed his head, Zach looked at Emily and pouted his lips, his eyes slowly closed as a few tears fell down his face and then screamed
“I am so sorry Gerard, he is over tired, and it’s been a long day” she said as she snuggled Zach into his eyes

“Come, he can sleep in my bed” said Gerard, Emily nodded as they walked down to the basement, Emily laid down with Zach, she gently patted his back as she hummed to a song and then slowly started singing as Zach slowly started to close his eyes, Gerard laid down on the bed putting Zach in the middle of the bed

“I'm trying, I'm trying

And after all the things we put each other through and
I would drive on to the end with you”

she sang softly, Gerard looked up at Emily and smiled, her heart wasn’t totally closed off to him, there was still hope.

“You sing that song to him” he said, Emily smiled and nodded
“I played it a lot while I was pregnant, it’s the only thing that will make him happy” she said, Gerard smiled

“He is so beautiful” he said as Gerard gently touched his cheek, Zach smiled

“I never said that I would lie and wait forever, if I known we would be together now” he said softly, Zach looked up and smiled as he reached for his father, Emily felt her heart constrict as Gerard gently kissed his forehead, Zach closed his eyes and finally fell asleep, Emily looked at Gerard, he looked so peaceful just staring at his son, she slowly got up and walked to the door

“Don’t go” said Gerard who looked scared, Emily froze and turned around she took a deep breath
“What do you want Gerard?” she asked, Gerard slid off the bed and walked over to her, he grabbed her waist

“Make us work” he said softly as he pulled her close, Emily shook her head
“You had me Gerard, you had me heart and soul and then you threw it all away” she whispered,

Gerard’s body stiffened as he grabbed her jaw, pushing it up so he could see her eyes, they were blank and soulless as he lowered his mouth to hers, she didn’t resist but she also didn’t respond as he tongue hungrily took her mouth softly, Gerard slowly pushed away and looked at her

“This will work, you will see” he said as Gerard opened the door and took Emily’s hand and walked into the dining room, Donna smiled

“Is Zach asleep?” she asked, Gerard smiled and nodded

“Like a angel” he said, Emily sat down next to Frank who smiled as Emily looked pale

“Everything okay?” asked Donna as she looked at Emily, Emily looked up and smiled

“I’m fine, just tired” she responded, Gerard sat down next to her as Frank looked up

“Sorry I took Emily out all day” he said, Gerard nodded

“It’s okay Frank, I am okay” she said as she stood up and excused herself and went out to the back yard, Gerard got up from his chair

“Excuse me” he said and followed her, Emily felt his presents as she looked at the roses Donna had grown

“I can’t do this Gerard” said Emily softly, Gerard walked up and wrapped his arms around her, he pulled Emily so she was facing him

“We need to both try Emily, how else would we know” he said, Emily shook her head, Gerard looked at her and smiled as he gently swept a piece of hair off her cheek and placed it behind her ear, Emily looked up at him his eyes were so focused on her

“I don’t know if I could ever forgive you” she whispered, Gerard froze and pulled her really close to him

“I know that” he replied, Emily closed her eyes as Gerard cupped her jaw, she felt his breath on her lips

“Look at me” he said, Emily slowly opened her eyes and look deeply into them as Gerard slowly lowered his mouth on to hers, Emily took a deep breath as she felt Gerard’s tongue trace an outline of her mouth

“Please” said Emily softly, Gerard grinned as he pulled her tighter on him

“Please Gerard please stop” she said as she placed her hands slowly on his chest and pushed, Gerard stepped back and groaned

“I want us to be a family Emily” he said, Emily looked away

“I don’t want us to end up like my family when we were younger”

“Emily looked at me” he snapped, Emily looked at Gerard




“Emily, Marry me?” he said
