When Margot came to, she did not open her eyes. Instead, she lay still for a few moments, still in a foggy daze from her bout with unconsciousness. She could hear two sets of breathing patterns reverberating throughout the otherwise silent room. No, no…there was also the sound of a mechanic-beep that pierced the quiet every few seconds. Where was she? Margot finally stirred, eliciting gasps from both other respirators in the room.
“Margot? Honey?” Spencer’s voice, the voice that could be so sweet at times, like it was now, like syrup simmering in a saucepan, floated dreamily in her mind. Margot cracked open her bleary eyes, lids feeling as heavy as stone, to look into the face of her boyfriend.
“Spencer,” she murmured, her voice raspy and faint. He lifted his hand to her cheek, caressing the skin softly, his clear blue eyes searching hers desperately for the recognition reserved for the one special to someone’s heart. “You’re here.”
“Of course I’m here,” he said gently, his brow relaxing, a reassuring smile attempting to play at his lips. “I love you more than anything, Margot. Honey, I’d never leave you alone.”
In that instant, while Margot was staring into her boyfriend’s familiar blue eyes, the ones that seemed to be straining to hold back tears, Margot felt a rushing feeling of overwhelming relief. It was a relief to see Spencer again. It was a relief to know that he still came when she needed him most. It was a relief to know that he was just…there. Tears leaved out of the corners of Margot’s eyes, sliding down her cheeks and dropping onto her pillows with soft pat, pat, pats.
“Spencer,” she whispered, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him as close as possible. She knew she loved him too much not to tell him what had happened. “I did something bad. I--I--”
“Shh…” Spencer hushed, stroking her hair and kissing her temple. “I don’t care. I know, but I don’t care. Margot, I’d forgive you of anything. I love you. You’re all I have.” He hugged her closer, nuzzling her neck warmly. That was when Margot spotted Brendon over Spencer’s shoulder, standing awkwardly by the doorway, watching the couple’s reunion. He shoved his hands in his pockets, looking away, before heading out the door and into the hallway, leaving Margot and Spencer alone.
I know, I know, I know: another short chapter. I'm really sorry, guys. It's just...I get something like this written in eight days, whereas a full-length chapter takes about two or so weeks to get up. Do you guys prefer shorter, more frequent updates, or longer but fewer-between? Let me know in your comments, and I'll start updating accordingly. What do you think, guys? Do you think a traumatic experience could make Spencer stop being a jerk and be the right kind of boyfriend for Margot? He seems to be on the right track...Knowing how the rest of the story is going to go, I'd say there'll be a few Team Spencers popping up in our midst in the near future, no? Go subscribe and comment and tell me what you guys think. OverAndOutxx
