Chapter 7:
This one had me a bit teary. I could just feel Harry's despair at Molly's outburst. It's truly heartbreaking.
(There's a point where Poppy's examining Harry where the sentence just drops off at "including," leaving the idea dangling.)
But back to feelings and such... Molly needs to understand that Ginny's likely just as volatile as Harry and if she keeps up with the disparaging remarks and her attempts to keep the mated pair apart, she's going to lose her daughter altogether, and in more ways than one. The rules have changed and Molly needs to make peace with that.
Remus truly is the best "chaperon" for Harry and Ginny. He knows what they're going through and how best to teach them to control their inner wolves and harness the natural urges the changes to their physiological makeup cause. It goes without saying that predators are dangerous, but more so when threatened or aroused.
Now this "new strain" of lycanthropy: I have to wonder if it's different because Harry and Ginny were already deeply in love and "mated," as it were, before Grayback got to them. Also I'm taking into consideration that Harry saved Ginny's life once (Chamber), which may have created some kind of connection between them. Now, in essence, he's saved her life again.
In defending his "mate," Harry killed their attacker--his sire--and took control. Harry's the new Alpha male and "leader of the pack," as it were, and as his chosen mate and true love, Ginny's the Alpha female. There's going to be something different there as a result. Perhaps Remus either hasn't considered this possibility or it just hasn't occurred to him yet. Remus was never part of Grayback's "pack" since he chose not to go feral. Instead, Remus chose to live as a human being the best he could. It's this that will help Harry and Ginny now and in the long run, especially since they're the Alphas now.
Okay, enough ranting. Good job! Say HI to Shyamal for me?

Oh, Molly. She's a tough one to portray correctly. She loves Harry like a son but then there's the fact that he has infected Ginny, her only daughter though not intentionally. Those also the fact that Molly does have some traditional and outdated views, at least, something that I perceive considering she was raised as a pureblood. Then there's the fact that she had Bill before she finished her seventh year. I actually calculated it out with the birth dates posted on the HP Lexicon.
As for the Lycanthropy strain, there are major differences. Remember from the memory that Harry saw in the fifth book when the Marauders were leaving after the exam, they were comparing characteristics that set werewolves apart from normal wolves. From what I understand, werewolves resemble normal wolves except for five key major characteristics. We know four of the five. You know, explaining my thoughts on this might take a whole page that I'm going to post this on my LJ and the forum.
That last paragraph hits upon a major point that should be coming up soon. In fact, it should be appearing in the next chapter. :D
The next time I see Shyamal, I'll say hi. It seems the little git decided to go trench diving in the back of my brain.

Interesting chapter, wonder what kind of Werewolf Harry and Ginny are if they aren't of the normal variety...Author's response
Whoop. I guess I did not express the significant changes during the sixth chapter. Normal werewolves are four legged that closely resemble normal wolves except for five key differences. The new form that Harry was seen to have in the sixth chapter are two legged and it's presumed Ginny has it too. Look to my LJ for further clarification on the differences. Thanks for the review.

Yes, I do have a ff.net account. It's under the penname Spryidon as well. However, the Howling's rating is too high for it, so its been posted on aff.net and my LJ.
Thanks for the review.

Well, I have to admit that I do feel sorry for Harry, he's just picked up another major load to shoulder, fortuneately he's also gained strength and a partner to help carry that load. I rather suspect that Molly's going to need to let go of her early-learned prejudices and learn to deal with what is, not what she'd like; it wouldn't hurt, either, for her to recognize that Ginny's just as hot-blooded and passionate as she was as a teenager (or is that what she's afraid of?). If she doesn't do this, both Ginny & Harry have made their choice and it's each other, not her; she runs the risk of losing both of them completely if she keeps this nonsense up.
I found the changes in Harry and Ginny interesting and I have to wonder exactly what caused them. I do wonder that no one has returned to where it happened to see if there was something peculiar or special in that environment. As I've said before, where it happened gives the feel of a magically-special site and I could see that affecting what happened there (perhaps one or more ley lines feeding extra energy into the transformation and more happening than "usual"?). In any case, it looks like Harry & Ginny are well-suited to each other and I doubt she's going to complain about his 'equipment fit".
'Twill be quite interesting to see what can be done to help them cope with this new variation on the lycanthropic virus; especially if they are the only two in the world with it. I do agree that finding out about this new variation would definitely stir Tom to try and abduct at least one of them for study; dealing with these attempts, and the consequences if one of them was successful (taking Ginny while leaving Harry behind could lead to a very angry lycan; not a good thing - wonder if that might end up being "the power he knows not"?).
It's an interesting and most enjoyable story and I look forward to seeing further chapters.Author's response
Is it me or does all of my reviewers have psychic abilities? That thing about pureblood ideals will be touched upon in the next chapter. We'll just have to see if Molly will be with them at the end or if she drives them away.
Hm, the spot where it happened. You'll just have to read more about it. I hope to update soon but then that's what I said about the last chapter and my finals are only five weeks away. Thanks for the review.

PS about the chapter count, it's accurate. About a couple of years ago, a reader complained that the system would always make prologue Chapter One regardless of what I put into the body of the page so by electronic count, the chapters were off by one. So to compensate for it, Chapter One is always the prologue if there is one. I guess you can say the title of Chapter one is 'Prologue'. Weird isn't it?The Howling

PS. Your prologue is listed as Chapter One by Ficwad, so should all your chapter titles be one less that what Ficwad gives? A minor point, but...The Howling

Maybe the new werewolves will understand what people are saying and can react to what is said (higher than human intelligence). The number one priority is their mate then leadership in the pack.
Have the new werewolves only able to infect another person if they want to. In others you can't take the blood and infect others to create a whole new army.
Eventually able to change at will as they slowly come to acceptance and better self control.
Love the story.Author's response
I do have some plans for the werewolf strain that Harry and Ginny has. It's kind of based on the AIDS/HIV virus or rather how it got passed on from chimps to humans. I've been trying to mesh the pack social structure seen in real wolves to the werewolves JKR hammered out.
As for the werewolves infecting those they want to, that's already been dealt with due to the event surrounding Ginny's infection. If there's a way for them to actual gain control over it is something I have to think about rather if the virus is in the blood or other bodily fluids.
For the third thing, that goes back to how the werewolf strain started but you're heading on the right track.
Thanks for the reviews!

Love the story! Have you considered the possibility that the new strain of the werewolf curse/disease could be like the super!vampire virus in the Blade movies? In other words, not only could Harry/Ginny infect humans but they could infect existing werewolves with the new strain. If they were then able to learn some measure of control without the use of the wolfsbane potion, it could lead to a real revolution in the way werewolves are treated.Author's response
I think the new strain is more of a retrograde virus, a disease that actually somehow evolved back closer to the original strain. As for what the original strain is, you'll have to read the story. In regards to the abilities of the new werewolves, it goes back to the source of the werewolf disease.

when i hear harry's changes i think of micheal of the underworld series. like a hybrid strain. i love this story. will love for it to be updated but i have marked this as one of my very favourites. love itAuthor's response
Considering how the books described the transformations to be in the canon universe, they would have to be significantly painful. Just like Micheal's first change was in the Underworld series. The transformations will get easier except on full moons.
I'm wary of uploading the revised chapters on here considering how different the coding is from html but you can check out the chapters that have so far been released on my LJ. CH3-7 will be uploaded as they're revamped and hopefully I can get CH8 out soon after.
Thanks for the review.
