BABETTE
Recording had started and the boys were working furiously on the new album. Gerard was practically killing himself by staying up all night fueled by coffee and up most of the day. He was exhausted already and things had only begun.

“Gerard, please come to bed.” I called from the bedroom. Gerard was in the bathroom, running a bath when I heard a yell and a smacking sound. I shot up and ran in to find him clutching his head as he scraped himself off the floor as the bathtub filled up.

“Are you okay babe?” I asked, rushing over to him. He rubbed his head and made a painful looking face as I helped him up.

“I his my head on the counter.” He grumbled, continuing to rub his head. I bit my lip; ouch.

“You want me to get some ice from the kitchen?” I asked. He shook his head and I was glad. This place was spooky at night and I didn’t want to go wandering around alone.

“Fuck that hurt!” he mumbled under his breath. I grimaced in sympathy. “But hey, what would you think if I dyed my hair blonde?” he asked randomly.

“What?” I asked, very puzzled.

“I got this image of me with blonde hair. What would you think?” he asked again. I bit my lip and thought.

“You have to get it done by a pro. I’ll make you an appointment tomorrow at the salon if you want.” I suggested, making a mental note of it.

“Okay, that’d be great.” He said, removing his hand from his head and taking off his ugly bathrobe. I’d seen him naked a thousand times, but I still blushed and looked away.

“What are you doing?” I asked as he made a reach for my robe.

“Well the bath is drawn, it’d be ashamed to waste it.” he said with a shrug. I sighed and smiled, dropping the robe. We stepped into the bath and I laid my head on his chest, the tips of my lengthening hair spilling into the warm waves.

It wasn’t even a sexual thing; us taking baths and showers together. At least not anymore. When we first started dating, sex seemed to have been the main drive. It started out as such a stupid, sexual little fling but ended up this giant mess that I could never comprehend the magnitude of. And yet I wouldn’t be anywhere else. It was crazy, tiring and smelly following them on tours around the world and when Gerard was away I missed him so much that I’d wake up in tears every morning. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. We had fallen in love with the idea of each other at first, but it turned out to be so much bigger than that in the end.

“I missed this.” Gerard mumbled, giving my arm a squeeze and kissing my hair. I closed my eyes and smiled, the warm water having a lulling type of affect to it.

“I missed this, too. But you’re going to work yourself to death if you keep this up.” I warned, looking up at him seriously. He smirked and kissed my nose.

“I know, I need to take it easy. I promise I’ll get more sleep.” He swore. I nodded and laid my head back on his chest again, staring off to the other end of the room, wondering how being so close to each like this wasn’t turning into intimacy.

“Y’know, its funny. If we had been doing something like this when we started dating, I’d probably be pounding you right now.” Gerard said with a laugh. I laughed very loudly at the bluntness of his statement because it was completely true.

“Wow, very nice choice of words.” I said, still chuckling. He smirked happily and stroked my back, making me shiver. “I love you so much.”

“Ha, I love you too Babes.” After all this time he still called me that.

“This is nice.” I smiled, shutting my eyes again.

“Yeah, this is nice.”
